Post 600 bucks, what speed parts should I get

If you had about 600 bucks and a stock 92 GT what would be the best mods. I was thinking about gears, which would be about $300 buck. So what should I do with the other 300 bucks

i'd hold off on the gears! start with the exhaust. headers, h-pipe, and a less restrictive muffler system. then a K&N air filter and some underdrive pulleys. there thats about 600 bucks, and i'm sure you'll notice the difference with those parts. then u can save for gears after that.

your best bet would be to get gears, underdrive pulleys (do you have a 130 amp alt? if not, get that with the pulleys) and a k&n. if you need to get the alternator, that might stretch it (you should install the pulleys and alt yourself), but thats your best bang for buck. the full exh. is closer to $1k (headers, H, and cat-back) so tahts why i say wait on it, and do it all at once, correctly.

dinomite couldn't have said it any better. You definately are better off buying one brand exhaust and the price will vary greatly with whether or not you get an H (or X) pipe with catalytic converters or not. Although exhaust will make your car sound awesome, $300 dollar gears will give you alot more kick than $600+ exhaust. My opinion is the same as dinomite's.

Ive been through this. Get the gears and pulleys. The exhaust wont do a damn thing. You will be dissapointed by the advertised 20 hp headers, and the 15 hp Hpipe and the 10-15 hp cat back that just doesnt work out that way. You might gain 15 rwhp if your lucky with all that stuff together.

If you really want to go fast get 410's and a 100-150 shot. That should plant your a$$ nicely into the low 13's - high 12s on radials.

i'll still say that exhaust is the first thing any one should get when modifying a stang. gears won't add any power, just accel quicker. i mean don't get me wrong gears are a great idea, and who doesn't want to go quicker, but i think that should be second on the list. a set of headers u can get for about $200-$250, a offroad h-pipe(keep the stock pipe for inspections) for $115, and a cat back for about $200-250, depends on the brands, and stay with the same one, mac is pretty good. u don't really need a 130 amp alt either. i run underdrives with a stock alt and i have never had a problem!

Gears, pulleys and H-pipe, thats definatly the way to go. And just leave the ALT pulley off.

gears 400bucks, pulleys 100bucks, Hpipe 100bucks.

I agree with sky, the gears h-pipe and if funds allow, pulleys.
The gears will be the best bang for the buck and will make you go faster and I would rather go faster than sound better.

What kind of transmission do you have?

hat to say it, but the reason you want more power is to accelerate quicker..........

get the gears (3-4 tenths), underdrives and k&n (1-2 toghether if your lucky). a catback is good for 1 maybe 2, and a full exh, 3-4. if you ar gonna do exh., i'd say get a catted H, the back pressure will actually make you faster than an offroad, and you won't have to hassle with switching the pipe when you need inspection, or worry about anyone noticing when he drops his doughtnuts.
