Post How much for a used Vortech V-1?

Some local guy offered to sell me a Vortech V-1 System that came off his buddies 91GT for $500. It doesn't have the pulley, bracket, fuel pump, or injectors, and I assume I would need a boost gauge.

1. Is this a good deal?

2. How much $$$ would it take and what would I need to get my stang to work with it.

Thanx

Is this an S-trim? What pulley doesn't it have? The crank pulley? If its the crank pulley, you will be able to get one of those from someone who upped the boost on their car or you can get one for around $100(last I checked) and get more boost too. You will need the bracket, which you may have to get from vortech unless you can find one off someone's car that is no longer being used. An FMU is also needed. You don't need injectors or a boost gauge, although a gauge would be nice. T-Rex(what the s-trim comes with) can be had for around $250. Does it have the tube and bypass? Are you sure the blower works? Is it just the head unit or??? I saw one on ebay last week for around $1200. You might want to check out www.vortecheng.com.

It is the 8-10 # version of the s-trim. I know it works and it comes with everything that is needed. The bracket and crank pulley need to be replaced however. I am buying it monday for $500. You are saying this should work with my stock injectors and fuel pump?

You won't need to upgrade the injectors. You will need to upgrade the fuel system. You may be able to get by with just a bigger intank pump like 190 or 255lph but I'd add the T-Rex inline pump too.

Now that I'm thinking about it.... what size injectors did your friend have on the car? If he didn't have stock then you may need to recalibrate the FMU.
