Thumbs up Black Mamba Revival

In just over a month from now the GT will be back on the road and kicking some azz. Until no, we have been held up by several things. One being the engine builder was out in Nebraska shooting ground squirrels. He spent several months out there doing that. Sucks for me huh?

Another reason is that we are wanting to change out the intake. The guy we are changing it out with (Mark Ray) is waiting for a Performer RPM intake to come in.
I can barely sit still. I just can't wait to get that dang car out to the strip again and see what I can do with it. I'm expecting low 11's or high 10's with Drag Radials. Anyone want to venture a guess as to what it'll dyno and run at the track?

Anyway, later guys.

Oh sorry, I keep forgeting not everyone knows of the car.

It's a 306 with Edelbrock Performer Aluminum heads, E-cam, Vortech S-trim with Aftercooler. If you look at it in the user's ride section you'll get the full run down of the parts. Last time on the dyno it made 525@6000rpm. I'm looking for 550 or better this time around. I'm sparing no expense for tuning on the rollers.

I'm also changing out the injectors and ditching the FMU in place of a chip(not sure what else goes with the chip, but you get the point). The previous best ET was 11.24@124. I'm hoping for high 10 on DR's. But we'll see.

The wheels are Fitapalldi Monte' Carlo's. They're only 16x7's, but they work for the moment.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Later.

You read that in MY thread "Snow Day!" Haha. The weather does suck here.....goes from one extreme then all the way to the other in less than 2 days.....and I hate the ******* wind....

But other than that....plenty of nice long, straight open roads to RACE....and the air is good! No SMOG!!! And no laws or emissions!!! So there....

Good deal bigwhitecobra. From the time I first heard about your car (in my early days here at MW), I always wanted to see it run. Can't wait for you to get it on the road and post some videos.

The coolest thing about the car is that it's a daily driver. I know of alot of guys that say thier car is a daily driver, like the guys that run in True Street, and if they were honest about it, they only drive the car to the race track. It's not the fastest thing on the road by any means. I can think of 10-20 other cars off the top of my head that I would never run in the GT, but they aren't daily driver's.
This is a car that even with 550(just a guess) at the wheels, is just as drivable as the Focus my wife drives to work every day. How many high horsepower cars can you say that about?

I think I'll lobby the NMRA to start a new class...
Daily Street(well can you think of a better name for a class?) where you still have the same rules as True Street, but you also have to do a salom course. How many cars would that disquallify?

Oh yeah, I do have one video of the car, but it's not very flattering. It was at an 1/8th mile track and I couldn't get any traction ALL the way down the track. I still ran an 8.2, but that was serious wheel spin. I was running on the street tires just to see what I could pull off. you should have seen everyone's face when I was spinning at the top of third crossing the line. That was cool.

God I love that car.

Later.

550 at the wheels.....whoa....wow....that's neat....

When I am an established grown-up, I'm going to find me a '69 coupe to build as a race car. Street legal and driveable, but it won't be a daily driver. Just for weekend cruises for when I want something faster than my fastback (which all I'm going to do after college is Performer RPM heads and 30 over pistons, should be worthy of 400 hp at the flywheel). I'm really thinking that I want a naturally aspirated 408 Windsor in it. I definitely want a 351 Windsor block, just depends on how much bore and stroke I want to go with after that. Want 11s with it....won't be QUITE as fast as yours.....
