Question towing with Stang...

I know some people tow jet skis with their Mustangs, but how much more can be hauled with our cars? Could one of those jet boats (about 12-15' in length and about 1500 pounds) be towed, or is that pushing it a bit much?

Im sure it would tow that fine. I just wouldn't want to see a Mustang sunk in the lake.

I think you could pull a jetboat. Hell, you could lay the smack down on a few Civics and 305 Camaros while towing it if you wanted to.

Yea, I knew the power wouldn't be a problem . I just didn't know if the suspension and car would stay safe with that weiight behind it.

I have now seen the following situation twice......A car towing a uhaul type trailer loaded down and then having the trailer start swaying back and forth violently, jerking the rear of the car back and forth. Both times the driver somehow recovered, but it was scary to see. I know these traliers were loaded down and were much heavier than a jet boat would be, but having a tralier whip my Mustang around like a doll is the last thing I want to see.

Cool

stangs like your have been known to tow 5000lbs. i dont recomend that though as i think the factory says 1500-2000lbs is the limit. make sure you install a GOOD electric brake system on the car and trailer, that way if the trailer does start getting tail happy you can use the brake controler to bring it back in line with out touching the cars brakes.

Good idea with the electric brake system. Where can I find more info on that? Anyone know how much that would cost to set up? I am pretty sure that a trailer that size would not come with brakes, so I would have to install them.

Cool

actually many states require brakes on trailers of 1500lbs cap and more. check with your local uhaul dealer, or most any trailer supply store.
