Post Power Outage and MW News

Unless you're under a rock, you've heard about the huge power outage that started in the New York / Ontario Canada area and cascaded across the US, stopping in the Michigan / Ohio area. Unfortunately, the entire Detroit Metro area of Michigan was taken out as part of this incident. Although our data center was switched over to battery backups, and later generator power, it didn't matter. Our Internet backbone provider was taken out, as was most Internet connectivity in this area. Therefore, where we are located we simply had to wait the outage out until power / Internet services were restored.

At this time things seem to have come back up and it appears we are back online. Sorry that we suddenly vanished... some times you can't beat freak occurrences, even with battery backups and generators I guess...

I agree with Josh....I was missing the place. It took me a while to finally remember Dan was in Michigan and probably didn't have power. Glad to see MW is back online!

Yeah, even after the power came back on yesterday at about 5:30 for me, the cable and internet were still down.

It was all good though, because at least people made it through everything okay and in one piece. A lot of neighbors helped each other and everything went about as smoothly as it can when 50 million people lose power.
