Question What colour should I paint my car?

I was wondering what colour I should paint my 1969 Mustang Mach 1. The paint on it was done very poorly, so I decided I'm going to do it right but I'm not sure to stick with the same colour. Help me out guys.

If you choose other then tell me what colour you think also give me any suggestions with stripes, flat black hood. I was thinking a darker colour cause it has a good amount of chrome so it will stand out. But lets hear what you think.

Here is a picture of what my car looks like. I'm going to get new door skins and fix the 1/4 panels cause they got some bondo in them.

Also forgot to mention the interior is now black with a red accent stripe across the top.

Hey man.....I'd be ticked if you painted it yellow! I had my '69 Coupe painted yellow and I plan on painting my '69 fastback yellow also. Bright canary yellow. If you want to see a pic of my coupe go the the thread "Stang Pics of All Years". I posted one on there.

I'm just playing about being ticked about you painting it yellow.

What do you have in that thing? A Cleveland right? Anything done to the engine or is it stock? How's it run?

Oh...it says Windsor in your sig. My bad. Is it stock? I thought when you first joined the site that it was a Cleveland and there was a large thread in "Classic" about it. Did you figure out it was a Windsor after that? Peace man.

lol Well it's already yellow if I keep it yellow I will paint it with a flat black hood and make it look nice and sharp. It's a 351-4bbl. I had enough evidence from everyone that they didn't make Clevelands in 1969. So it's a Windsor. It goes and quickly. The engine has been done up but sad to say I don't know what has been changed or really how much power cause I just bought it alittle under 2 months ago. But I expect to get the carb. adjusted and the timing all setup nice and get it dyno'd in the spring/summer. But I love it and it goes so I can't complain.

About the silver, silver does look nice but I'm not thinking at the car cause I want the chrome to stick out. =) Maybe I'll get the whole car chromed. Now that'd be CRAZY! hehehe....

Hey mine is yellow too. It is the orginaly paint though so it is very faded and very ugly. I need to get it painted one day. I just haven't ever decide on what color. OH WELL!

Did you check your engine to see if it was a Cleveland or Windsor? Clevelands are pretty common in '69 Stangs, they just aren't original. My fastback had a Cleveland in it when I bought it, but I put my old Windsor in it.

Cleveland quick IDs: 8 valve cover bolts, bolts in fuel pump are at 12 and 6 o'clock

Windsor quick IDs: 6 valve cover bolts, bolts in fuel pump are at 9 and 3 o'clock

Check it out and let us know for sure dood.....

It is a Windsor I checked for the 6 bolts on the vavle cover. Someone gave me that tip and I went down at like 6:30 in the morning to check.

If I was to paint a nice car like that, I wouldn't paint it yellow or red like everybody else does. Do something different, silver or black! Personally, I voted for the silver. I think it would look awesome

Yeh, I'm really confused on which colour, pretty sure not silver though. Sorry guys, I believe the orange you are talking about 89LXFLEA is Grabber Oranage.
This colour here?

Now that I look at that picture I like it alot, thats sharp.
I want a nice car so if I show it off it looks really nice, but I also want a nice colour so when I fly by someone they know. hehehe.....
I still got acouple months to choose but I'd like to figure it out and hear some suggestions.

Man, that orange photo looks real good. If not orange, go with black or red. Sorry I can't be of more help, but they're all good colours. But I wouldn't go with silver with that car. You want something that will highlight the chrome (usually a darker color).

I don't really like red....EVERYONE paints their old Stangs red. I was going to paint mine laser red when I was first looking for colors. But then looking around I found TOO MANY red Stangs....so I was thinking an orange, like that...then I saw a yellow 5.0 Mustang (it was Ford chrome yellow color)....It looked awesome so I found my color and loved it right away....The fastback will be painted the same color.....wait....i think i said that in an earlier post....sorry for being.....uhh........what's that word for repetitive?......uhh.......oh well....you all know what i mean......

----------------------------------------

Why did you put silver in your poll if you weren't keeping it open as an option?

Well the silver I put in the poll is really Silver Jade, I'm not sure if they want me to paint it Silver or Silver Jade. Silver Jade is more of a champain kind of colour. I'm at work (co-op) right now so I will try to post a picture if it when I go home at lunch and if not when I get back to school. lol

Well gotta get back to work for the 10 minutes I have left.

Take it easy,
