Question What do you guys think??

There is a woman on my route that has a 97 Ram Air T/A and she was asking me what its worth. I told her its worth about what a hard top 97 Cobra is worth.. about $15k. She is looking at trading it in because she is 'with child' and needs another vehicle. They are going to see about trading it and someone offered her $13k cash for it already. This car is almost mint!! Black with tops and only 34k miles! I've been trying to get out of payments and focus on paying my houses off but (I bought this bike to pacify myself)... the temptation is killing me! I can probably get this car for $14k and .... welll... Am I crazy for wanting this car?? Tell me I'd be nuts for buying this car!! I'm talking myself into it, I can see it happening. I can possibly turn a buck on it if nothing else..... HELP!!

Okay Rick, While Christine and {buy it} Joe were of no {buy it} help to you at {buy it} all, I will certainly {buy it} do everything in {buy it} my power to set {buy it} you straight. We all know that {buy it} Ford has superior engineering, design {buy it}, and cosmetics, so {buy it} any arguement in favor of {buy it} the Trans Am is weak and poorly founded {buy it}. Knowing these facts as {buy it} you do, there is only one possible {buy it} solution that you {buy it} could come up with {buy it}.

That being said, do what your heart tells you to!

Take care,
-Chris

I had an LT1, they're a nice car and if I were in your shoes I would buy it, but it doesn't even compare to an LS1, it's like night and day. The LS1 is a little more pricey, so get the T/A

If you can turn a 10-15% profit within a few weeks or so, then you know what my advice is.

You guys are ALOT of help. ROFL The car wasn't there today.. I think the lady was hot on a Cadillac or something so... I dunno if she still has it (that makes my life easier). Guess I'll see tomorrow.

2001 WS6 TA, I understand what you are saying but the thing is.. I'm not in the market for a car. I don't need another car. I have a truck, mustang and a bike. This car is just one of those deals you run across, one owner with low miles and pampered. There is no doubt in my mind that the right person would pay $17k+ for the car. Do I want to make payments until the right person comes along? I'd enjoy it, I'm sure, but its not my first choice in another vehicle, by a long shot. 5 yrs ago, maybe. Even if I kept it, its still a very good deal. It would be a great 'date car' which I really don't have right now (not real important really).

As far as performance.. If I were in the market for a Camaro/Firebird it would go kinda like this..

To keep stock= LS1
To add a blower= LT1
To add a cooler blower combo= LS1
First time I saw the hp gains to the LT1 when a blower is added, I was impressed. I believe the LT1 would be less of a hassle to work on as well. As far as a budget 400+hp f-body the LT1 is within 10hp and more than $1k cheaper in the blower department(the tq numbers are identical). The LT1 cars can be had alot cheaper, as a general rule. I don't know but I'll take a wild guess that the parts are cheaper too. So if I was going to get a GM pony car it would probably be the LT1, I like blowers. From what I understand the aftercooler is more of a race track devise(if I'm wrong, someone please school me). I'm not going to pop the hood and add some ice or cold water to the cooler when somebody revs their engine at me. I can see it now.. "When we get to this light, I'm gonna pop the hood and I want you to take this bucket and empty it into the cooler. Then we'll show this guy what's up!

I'd much rather have a cobra either way

Thanks for the replies guys!

Thanks for that Rev.. I don't know that I would be able to hold out for $17k, I could probably get $15-16k fairly quick. Then I start to think about insurance and the other costs and it kinda defeats the purpose.. If any of you guys are interested in a real nice 97 WS6, its a heck of a deal for someone wanting to own it.(I guess I just talked myself out of it)
