Default Help- Stolen Car!

Hi All,
I'm in Colorado and I need some serious help. A member of www.colorado4x4.org sold me a car a few weeks ago. Me being the trusting person I am (and assuming we were friends) didn't do a bill of sale while we waited for the title to arrive. We then had a problem finding a time to meet to sign the title over. Hey, no big deal since we were friends, right? Wrong.

He had the cops escort him to my house this morning and take the car back. He told them I had not followed through with a verbal agreement to make payments. This is untrue, and I need help.

He purchased a '90 (I think) Bronco fullsize. I wrote the check directly to this dealership.

Am I just totally screwed here since everything was still in his name? I'm out quite a bit of money since I've put high profile tires, new brakes, and gears in the car.

HELP???

For information on what my other board has had to say check out
http://www.colorado4x4.org/cgi-bin/u...=002288#000017

Thank you.
Justin

I know I should have done the bill of sale. Every single person I talk to says that. :\ Myself included. Hind site is 20/20, that's for sure. The problem I am going to run into is the fact the court date is set for Feb. 18th! That's a long time for him to do something stupid or to get out of town. Then when I do win the court battle, how am I going to collect???

I was really enjoying the car, too! I just put the 4.10's in this past Sunday, did the entire brake system on Saturday, and brand New Falken Zien (is that the right name?) tires!

I just don't understand how people can do this to the trully honest and well intentioned people.

i sold an 89lx to someone that i thought was my friend too, but i wasnt giving him the title until he gave me the $700 that he owed me. so he stripped the car, fenders, doors, rearend, hood, hatch, front-rear covers, everything. and used a trailor and dumped it in front of my house. we also had a verbal agreement. and i am in the process of suing him. my lawer said that he is trying to make him pay to put the car back exactly how it was. which could cost upwards of $30,000 putting it back together piece by piece. LETS JUST HOPE THIS A S S H O L E DOESNT DO THE SAME THING, AND CREATE ANOTHER HEADACHE FOR YOU! GOOD LUCK AND DONT WORRY YOU'LL COME OUT ON TOP, JUST LIKE IM GOING TO!

it's like jerry springer show

I am dealing with a nut, myself but it's not mustang related...

My wife got in an accident a few months ago and the other person involved illegally(cited) passed someone and collided with my wife. My wife's car was a '90 cavalier so you understand why I didn't bother paying for collision. The women that hit her had her insurance cancelled months earlier for nonpayment!! Totalled car no reimbursement!! I'm trying to get money out of this loser that has nothing!! Tough gig. I have since bought a new ride for the wife which she should've got along time ago! She's just been so understanding with my spending on the mustang she didn't care that she was driving a junker!

Hope my court date goes well.
Good luck to you folks, too!

A small caliper, fully automatic gun with a large magazine goes along way in the form of revenge....

We're not allowed to do this sort of thing in jersey, but out in Colorado i figure you could get away with it....

I'm attempting to do everything the legal way, I'm just so disturbed that this guy is doing this. How does he think he's going to get away with it? Problem it, court date is not until Feb. 18th! Long time for him to get rid of the car and skip town.

Honestly though, I had to really hold my temper to not run his *** over with my jeep.

By the way, small razor cuts, numerous cuts, does a lot for the painful revenge.

Or, place pins into each individual joint in his hands and let them sit and fester unil they become infected. Serious pain there, too.

Alas, not legal in Colorado either...

Let me get this straight, you paid for the car by writing the check for him to buy a Bronco at a dealership? Fine, get an attorney and place a lien on the Bronco. You have the cancelled check to prove that you paid for it. It may be in his name, but there's no doubt that you paid for it.

Easy case. You just need to place a lien on something of his for security until you go to court.

Take care,
~Chris

You are right on the money Chris. That's exactly what was done. I paid the dealership directly though, not to the guy.

I'm trying to find a way to put the lien on the Bronco. I'll let everyone know what happens!

You should have the dated check and then all your receipts for the recent work should be dated too. There's no way you can't at least get your money back, letalone get the car back. What a dick. Sorry man, hope it works it easy for you.
