You're a lucky man. There are alot of people that would like to be in your shoes. Since a 2003 Cobra is out of my price range, I'll have to look into a S-Trim this summer to keep up with the pack.

Oh yea, WELCOME. Everyone on this board is very helpful!!

Thumbs up WELCOME!!!

When do you expect to get your Cobra in?

You will have to take it to the track so we can see what they really do in the 1/4.

Welcome to the Board!

Ok, now we all want details! Details on the 2003 Cobra order that is. What color did you order? What is the expected build date, ship date? Any price info yet? What's the dealer know that maybe we don't?

Sorry for all the questions, but this new Cobra has many of us very interested in it.

Again, welcome.

E

PS - You will be taking it to the 1/4 mile track, right?

Default So many questions, so little time...

Well, thank you all for the gracious hellos.

1) Dealer was polite but totally clueless. They said they thought there would be two production runs.
2) Car should arrive in May
3) I ordered the silver, thought about the code 13K rear spoiler delete, then saw a picture and it looked cool. I am not into the boy racer look. Even my license plates are stealthy.
4) I got it for MSRP or less. Dealer estimated it at 35.5k. Not much wiggle room
5) I have owned a number of stangs: 85, 86, and 87 GT's. A 64 1/2 convertible I restored.
6) I own a Corvette restoration and perf. parts business, but not too active (it is a second job if yuou know what I mean).
7) I am an engineer (MS in Mechanical and electrical) and write for an auto mag part-time.
8) My specialty is lubricants and general auto topics.
9) Other interesting cars I have owned: 1985 Z51 Corvette, 1992 Z07 Vette, 1972 454, 1967 427 convertible, 1961 Fuelie, 1995 NSX Targa,

I decided to sample up some Detroit iron again, now that Jac(kass) Nassar is history and a Ford again rules! Very disturbed by the 1999 Engine Fiasco, the F-150 radiator "goof", etc.

Hope I have not made a mistake trying the Blue Oval world.

Rage:

I agree with you on the spoiler option. Originally, I stated in a post (somewhere on this board) that if I were to get a Cobra I would get the spoiler delete option...but then, once I saw the picture of the totally new spoiler I have changed my mind.

Silver will be very sharp. Good choice, IMO.

Again, great to have you here. Sounds like you have a wealth of information to share - and just a little bit of experience with hi-po cars.

$35.5 is not a bad price. I suppose you can't X-Plan the Cobra, can you? (Hey, it worked on the wife's 2001 Taurus SEL )

Keep us posted on the Cobra.

That pisses me off! My local dealership told me $5,995 markup and they won't negotiate it. California dealerships suck.

Welcome to the board. I'm in my 4th year of a MET degree at Michigan Tech, hence my username.

I don't think you'll regret the new Cobra one bit.

Good Luck

I would never pay over sticker - never have. They tried to do that to me on an M3 once, and I ended up 3K below sticker just so they wouldn't get stuck - I would have paid them MSRP but once I get fired up, look out. Too bad greed wins out in California.

BTW, I told them I would subtract every stupid packing fee they try to add: processing fee, business tax fee, consumer services fee - there is no way I am paying for sheer greed. I told the sales mgr that was all part of running a business, and a retail sale should not be packed. Why not charge for electricity?

I like the way you deal rage. Alittle bit of hardball. hmm.. next car I buy I'm taking you with me. hehehe... Havn't priced the Cobra in Canada. Momma always said if you have to ask the price you can't afford it. lol
