![]() Congrats on the new project. Just as a side note on the old one, understanding those Winters rear ends is important. They have one of two "permenant" ring and pinion sets. 99% of the time it's a 4.86:1 set. Then you have two more gears for the quick change. Determining your final ratio involves the number of teeth on both smaller gears, and the ring and pinion. It gets complicated, but I have a chart if you need some help. To complicate matters further, the quick change gears can be installed either way, meaning the big gear can go on top, and the little one on the bottom, or vice-versa. ***Very important that you know this***: With the big gear on top, you get a much lower, short track set up. With the big gear on the bottom, you get a higher gear ratio designed for larger tracks, of 1/2 mile in length or more. If you screw up, you'll hear about it from the driver after the first lap
![]() Take care, -Chris
