The Sterling is a lost cause
I went to go get some pics of a '73 Sterling for Chris yesterday. When I got there, I finally met the owners of the house and the yard the car sits in.
For those who don't know about the Sterling: it's a car that I've been watching for about 6 months now. It's a '73 Sterling, yellow, and looks like a cross between a Ferrari and a GT-40. Sits about 2-3 in. above the ground, and is really wide. Has a heavy fiberglass body, stronger then any other I've ever seen. Two bucket seats, and to get in and out the the car, the whole roof and window flips forward. Now back to the story... I knock on the door, three times, really loud. No answer.. I then walked part way around the house to see the barn because there was a shop there. I knew someone was home because the car was there this time. As I was walking back, I was greeted by a rough, "Can I help you?" It kinda startled me, because I was looking elsewhere. I said, "Yes". I was wondering about the yellow Sterling in your field over there," pointing to it. "What are you doing with it?" He said, "I'm storing it." "Is it for sale?"I asked: "No. Just holding it for a guy. It's been there for ten years." I asked: "Do you know what he might be doing with it? Do you think he'll sell it?" "No, he's not; and if he was, I'd be the first to get ahold of it." was the reply. "Well, do you mind if I at least get some pics of it for a friend of mine, I've told him all about it." A Pause, "Yes I would mind, good day." I said: "Well, thank you anyway." I know I didn't do a very good job of making it sound this way, but he was being really rude to me. Really cold. Here I was, trying to be as nice as possible, and he just was really cold to me. Oh well. Sorry Chris, no pics of it. Maybe I can sneak to the fence on the Base side and get some through the fence. He can't do anything about that. They maybe a little ways away, but at least you might be able to see it then.

Allright, now you have my attention. I have never seen or heard of one of these things. I searched on google and couldnt find a pic of one or anything on them. If anyone has a picture or any more information about them I would like to see it too.

What a prick!
Yeah, I still want to see it! If you can get any pics of it, I'm still interested. Maybe you know someone with a good zoom lens? Just a thought. Thanks for the update! Take care, -Chris

Okay, that's why I couldn't find it before. It's a kit car, and I believe it's built on a VW bug chassis. I was thinking it was a car built by Rover Sterling in England.
Nevermind. Take care, -Chris

Found some more pics of some sterlings:
1975 STERLING COMPONENT , COMPONE, nt car, Volkswagen flatback engine 1975 STERLING KIT, CAR, VW donor chassis and 1600cc engine, hyd lift entry dr, 1961 STERLING, , 4 cyliners, 4 spd, newly painted, from movie Cannonball Run II It could be that my memory is playing tricks on me, but the one here still looks a little diff. Now I really want to go and look again. It's been about three months since I last seen it.
