Carlsbad -sat
Im in San Diego still guys. I was changing my fuel pump this morning cuz my car was running kinda surgy, and the old one was whineing pretty bad, so I figured it'd fix the problem but it didnt. At part throttle it slamd back and forth and studders hard. It runs .. OK.. at full throttle, but its definatly lacking power. Im getting a solid check engine light after about 5-6min of driving, and then it doesnt go off. So I dont think Im gonna drive up to Carlsbad with it running like this. Im gonna go work on it some more and see what happens. ******* car.

We were wondering what happened to you today. There was a pretty solid turn out of domestics. Three '03 Cobras ran (Leon was one) and one of his friends brought one that didn't race.
That's right, four 2003 cobras at the track. My car is slow, and I can't drive. I was so embarassed I only made three passes. It was pretty humid, so now I need to go shower. There is an all ford even next weekend, but I forget where it is.

don't worry deuce! you did ok, especially for your first time down the track!!! It was nice meeting you and your times will only get better I wasn't doing much better, i just had alot of hp to make up for my lack of driving skills I really could have used your slicks sky! I raced a zo6 on et streets my very first race! he ran a 12.4 @110mph to my 12.94@114mph! My best on the day was 12.82@ 115.6mph 2.26 60ft. I had to take off at half throttle threw allmost all of first or i would smoke the tires Oh well! I hope you figure your car out!! good luck.
Leon P.S. Chris videod my car so i'll post it when he gets it on the net! I beat a ss camaro pretty good at least!

It was fun!
My car wasn't ready to drive yet, so I got to drive my intimidating 4 cylinder (probably 4 HP) toyota tacoma, but I saw some sweet cars there. Leon put a hurtin' on a few Chevy's there in his Cobra. It was a good showing for the Ford family. Deuce, you did better than I'll do when I finally get my first pass at a track, don't be embarrassed. At least you weren't the guy driving the supposedly 10 second integra, lol. Now that would have been embarressing! It was nice to finally meet some people from this website. Take care, Keith

I bet you would have gave that kick butt neon i raced a challenge! the neon ran i blistering 16.95 but wait, hold on to your seats!!!!!!!71mph. too funny! He barely broke the speed limit! I bet your tacoma could have gave him a challege!!It's all good fun! Hope you get the bugs worked out of stang! Leon

It think we need to do this again real soon
I had a blast. It was a fun day although I was just fiending for my car due to the fact there was one there exactly like mine, except it was running. I met some cool people from this site, and I think we should try to organize another one real soon. Maybe one every month, or every other month. If anyone is seriously interested in pursuing this, PM or E-mail me and we'll try to organize another trip. I think we should try to get a hold of Chris's schedule to see when he'll have a chance to go with us though. Take care, Keith

I unhooked me O2's and it runs the same, so they must be part of the problem. Its studdering worse today. Im ready to go again soon. I still have not got a nitrous pass, over a year after I've installed it. Leon 115mph is good. Z06 only going 110, as you can see most of the #'s people post on the net are BS. All these 115-119mph's outta Z06's. I expect with some tires next time out we will see 117-118 outta your car.

I think there tracks are below sea level thats all the z06 did end up with 112mph by the end of the day, and he believes his power is down, but not sure why?
If you unhooked the o2 sensors and it's the same then that's probably not it sky! When the car is running pull each plug wire off 1 at a time! If the idle speed doesn't drop then that cyl. isn't firing! If your car is running as bad as you say, i would do a compression check! I bet 1 or 2 cyl. will be real low! or someone is messing with you and messed with the firing order? 13726548 i believe is correct! good luck! I'm pretty sure with some better weather and slicks i can get 117-118mph as well! I can't go to the track for awhile though as the wife is expecting to have our kid in early oct. so i don't really want it to pop out at the track Leon

I still don't understand why I can hook up better on the roads by my house I test on, than I could at that track. That just seems wrong.
I did figure out that my #8 plug wire is loose, which explains why the car felt like it was missing on the last run. Had I know that, rather than assume it was my fuel pump, I might have made another run. Oh well, next time I'll hopefully line up against some guys that aren't total morons, and if I can remember to launch in gear, that would help to (don't ask). I'm hooked though, and Keith you will be racing whatever it is that you drive next time. I want to see your Mustang in my mirrors.

Be careful of what you wish for..
I got her started today after many frustrating days. I wasn't able to get the timing exactly right, but she started and my distributer problems are just a bad memory ! I am hoping to be driving her again within a week or two at the very most. We'll line em up on the street where ever you've been practicing, and we'll both see what our cars could do. I'll be taking my mustang the next time down in C-bad for sure. Take care, Keith.

Keith & Mike-
Keith, i still can't believe this was your first time at any kind of racing event! The NHRA Finals are in Pomona every year, and this year it's either the second or third weekend in November. I want you and Mike to keep your calendars clear for that weekend. I'll call Jim at Hawaii Racing, and have him get me a few passes for the Sunday Finals, and we can all go. Until you've felt the thumping in your chest from a top fuel dragster's exhaust as it flies by you 50 yards from the finish line, you haven't seen racing. Take care, ~Chris

Im still pissed I missed it, damn, I wanted to go.
We'll I played with fuel pressure, and basically tuned things up and its runnign better, still studdering under part throttle a bit. I've never changed the 02's since the blown head gasket, so I definatly think they are part of the problem. What I was tyrin to say, is that when I unhooked them it should have run WORSE, but it didnt. It was runninin good on the way home. I got into it w/ a type R integra on the 15 freeway and when I downshifted to third all my lights shut off. the car kept running fine, I hit 4th and it came back on... Weird....... Skyler

oh, ok i see what your saying sky! Coolant does kill o2 sensors and fast! your probably onto something there! hopefully thats all it is! As for the lights, check all the grounds you can see and make sure they are tight! I know those headlight switches have a built in circuit breaker, so it may just need a switch? hope you get the bugs worked out!
Keith, i'm glad you finally got her running!!! Leon

Leon - wow! That 115mph trap speed says your 3600+lbs Cobra is making some BIG power. I'm very impressed. Nice job.
Skyler - Any luck yet? I want to hear about some N20 runs! My vote is for faulty 02 sensors. E

I'm there Chris
My calender is already marked for it. It will be fun. Maybe we could get some other MW people to go too.
Leon, thanks, I wish I could have gotten her going for Carlsbad, but oh well. There will be another time. I don't think any one realizes how hard it was to keep up with 3 V8 mustangs when you're driving a toyota tacoma, especially since two were 03 Cobra's We will have to meet up again soon, I had a good time there! I'm down for the finals for sure. I need to post my slips tonight, some of the numbers on them are pretty comical.

Same goes for me. I've decided to sell my car and build a 69 stang like I used to have. With the limited amount of stangers in my area, more than likely my car will still be here next month, and if it is, I'll probably try and make it to the next meeting at Carlsbad. Probably get more interrested people there then around here. Dave
