...a ton of general questions....
Okay, I just acquired a 1985 LX convertible. Hope you folks can help me out with some answers...........
It needs a top.....who/where to buy from? Anyone installed a top themselves? Glass or plastic? I'm seriously leaning toward glass but I have NO idea of how these Mustang tops perform. Has a 3.8 V-6 with a blown head gasket......but I have a good 3.8 to swap in w/ only 64K on it. Are there headers and dual exhaust kits available for this car? Rim options with the 4 bolt pattern? I would like to go to 15 inch rims, but a nice looking 14 inch rim would do fine. Spoiler and air dam options. Understated styling........Any good sites available for these years? I'm sure I'll have several more questions, but that's a start! Thanks, Dave |

www.cal-mustang.com is always a favorite
i like cloth tops honestly...and ive never put one on, because if you mess up the folding a little bit youll get a hole...the new top on our 90gt was installed a little off and the thing had a hole starting through the fabric in a little under a year...and that was professionally installed...always go with glass windows on the rear....plastic are horrible...after a while they just muck up and you cant see through them anymore...the glass is just much more reliable... i dunno anything about LX kits....but many here do....and cal-mustang.com should have body kits for you.... -jonathon

Welcome,
Check out the 'small ponies' forum for help on the 3.8. Question, which body are you running on the VW? I had a '70 fastback in college. Friend had a nasty "little" 2180 in his '65 notch. That thing walked all over 350 chevy's.
