well, alright, maybe I am.
This is what I think may have been wrong. 1.) I pulled the external belt off the s/c. Instead of rerouting the air tube, I just let it run thorough the s/c. From what I've gathered, the impeller was really blocking the air since it wasn't being used. 2.) Since I have a s/c the timing was most likely set back to 8 or 9 degress btdc. I got lazy and didn't even check it before I went. 3.) I wasn't powershifting. 4.) Instead of easing into the gas, I was pushing the pedal to the floor, without powershifting. 5.) My lack of experience 6.) I was using autolite 23's gapped at .34 even with the s/c unhooked. I did replace my plugs a few days before I went, but I had my s/c hooked up at the time, so I went with Autolite 23's. I replaced my cap & rotor at the same time too. I also changed my oil, right before I left. The only thing I did to prep my car before the races was to let the air out of my BFG comp T/A's down to 25psi. I have the stock 19 lb injectors and as far as I know the stock fuel pump (I just bought the car, I'm still unsure of a few things about it) I will be adding some mods to it (rebuilt s/c , along with a few other things) before I head to the track again. Just keep the suggestions coming, I appreciate the help, Keith |
