Default Passed the CPA Exam

Finally.

Two years and four tries (they only give the test twice a year ), and I'm finally done!

Went out to celebrate a little tonight. Not to much since we are in the middle of "tax season", but I am in the best mood since, well, since I started this job.

I know some of you are CPA's, and I thought I'd just share my happiness with y'all.

Congrats man. In a few years I will have to take a PE exam to get my Engineering liscense. I cant wait in a way but I will be so glad when its over. Im told the cpa test is about as hard as a Bar exam to become a lawyer..Regardless. Congrats man

Thumbs up

Deuce:

Congratulations on passing the CPA Exam!!! I'm a CPA as well and know just how difficult it is to pass that damn thing. Well deserved.

Just think, only 9 more weeks of hell and then you can really celebrate.

Again, congrats!

Glad to hear you made it Deuce. My sister is a CPA, and I've heard that test is a real toughy.

Congrats Deuce!!!

My wife is a CPA & went thru the same thing trying to pass it about 6 years ago....made a $10k difference in her salary immediately & it keeps rolling from there!
Now if I can get my Real Estate Sales going on the side I'll have some fun money for the Cobra!

Hey Duece

Congratulations on your achievement.

Just curious. My daughter Angela is an accounting major in her third year now. She is thinking about becoming a CPA. Beyond a BS degree in accounting, what additional formal training is required or recommended to certify as a CPA?

Thanks

John,
Currently there is not a set national standard for experience or education to become a CPA. The rules vary slightly from state to state, so the best way to find out is to check with the State Board of Accountancy in the state she will get licensed.

The flip side to this is that most states do honor the requirements of other states once you are a CPA. Generally speaking it is only an administrative issue to transfer a license.

Below is a link to a page on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) website that provides links to all 50 states (plus the Virgin Islands) requirements for education and experience.

http://www.aicpa.org/states/stmap.htm

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

Mike
