Focus with a Mustang's heart
Did you guys see in MM&FF that there is a company that makes conversion kits where you can put either a 5.0 or a 4.6 in a Focus? The kits supposedly almost just bolt right in without having to do a bunch of cutting. They had one with a 4.6-4V on display... could be nasty.

The one company's called Kugel komponents, they have swap parts/brackets for the motor/trans tunnel/8.8 rearend. I just saw a 2003 Cobra on ebay for sale without the motor/trans/rear. I guess some guy is building a bayad Focus with the supercharged 4.6 and whatever other parts he got out of the 2003 Cobra. He's probably the only person who bought a new Cobra to part out and use in a Focus. It would be sweet to get a 3 door hatchback and swap in a 331 stroker w/procharger, TKO trans., and 8.8 rear w/3.73 gears. It would probably run easy 10's if you could get it to hook up.

That's a pretty bad@ss focus! It would be funny to see a guy who swapped a VTECH engine into his civic spending a crap load of cash thinking he's all that meet up with a guy that has an 03 Cobra engine in his focus!
I know it's a focus, but shouldn't that somehow qualify to be a mustang? Hell, it's got more mustang power in it than the V6's, GT's, etc.! The SVT Mustang Focus......hmmmmm.

A 4.6 fits in a focus???? Holy *****!!!!! Next there's gonna be someone who puts a big block in one, since they're very close in size, that'll be the next thing to watch for!!
I saw the Hot Rod magazine (I think) article on the 5.0 in a focus, that was crazy on its own. Imaging a 4V 4.6? Wow.... I can't wait to see a 460 now... |
