Post Can we get an event at Charlotte Motor Speedway organized?

I really would like to take the GT to one of those Nascar/Formula 1 mega ovals and take it up to 150 mph . I heard that groups can reserve it for a day, but it costs some money (I dunno, maybe the more go, the less it'd cost).

Anyone interested in going up there (NC) for say, a Mustang Works (good advertising), event--- plus another way to meet people from here?

Any interest?

I'd like to take the LX up to 150 too........but the P165R15 front runners, 4-banger springs, no front sway bar, and 90/10's would kinda hamper it's top end handleing ability.

Default I would go to Charlotte

I live about 2 and a half hours from Charlotte. There are plenty of Mustang enthusiasts in the Charlotte metro area (which includes Charlotte, Gastonia, Monroe,Concord, etc. plus the S.C. towns of Rock Hill, Ft. Mill, York, and Lancaster. Plus, pleople form the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson,SC area are within 2 hours driving distance and the event will draw them too, not to mention others from outlying areas within 4 hours. I think you have a great idea.

Yeah, I live about 2.5-3 hrs away too.

That'd be good location for a MW get together. I know a lot of people (fi not most) have there cars setup for drag racing, but I also know there are a lot of members that have the right stuff. Plus, I think the track is in a great location for eastern members-- not too far north, not too far south.

What would we have to do to get a group to go up there? COuld we get discounted rates if we get a big group? Let's say, rent it for an entire Sunday?

That would be awesome! I ALSO live about 2 1/2 hours away. Thats strange how 3 of us living in different states can all live 2 1/2 hours away from Charlotte.

Count me in. I can round up some interest here in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg.

Yep. I think it's a great location. I know we all go to the dragstrip more often than a circle track. I'm gonna talk to some buddies around here this weekend to see if they'd be interested (I'm pretty sure they will be).

Does it snow in the prime of winter up in NC? If we do do this, what do you think would be the best time. Early next year or late this year. OR do we like wait until like March or later of 2004?

Yeah it snows every now and then. Not much, and when it snows in NC, Charlotte is usually spared from the junk. Actually, I've been living here in NC for like 11 years now, and didnt see much snow at all till A Dance I was going to with my one Ex Diane. It snowed like crazy right before Valentines day. We got stuck, while wearing Gone With the Wind Cloths.

Do you know what being stuck in the snow with a Girl that wearing A HUGE HOOP DRESS in a small car is like???? Well, put it this way...I didnt care what it took, I was going to get the car UNSTUCK.. WHICH I DID.

Snowed at least once every year since then. Usually right after New Years.

I live in Charlotte and I've been waiting for someone to find out about how to get on that track and get a full speed run on it. I can maybe make a couple of calls if we can get enough interest to find out how much it would run to have the track for a day, you guys let me know....

Default Should Charlotte fall through

the meeting in Tulsa in June of 04 will be good to stretch your legs.
I see we have time on Hallett? It's not Charlotte, but I hear it's a very nice track.
