My friend made into 5.0 mag...
Here is my friends GT. We converted it to carb. All we did is add a 650 double pumper, Victor Jr., Trick flow Stage 1 cam and a MSD system. They heads are stock E7's untouched. You wouldnt believe the difference just going to carb! I honestly can say it felt like 20-30 more horses under that hood. So if your curious when you read the mags and they claim to get 30 more horse just by swithing to carb, they arent lying. This car moves for just doing a simple swap!

nice lookin car
but i think i'll stick with the drivability of my EFI btw, with a proper tuning device (PMS, custom chip, etc...) you can easily make more power with EFI than carb

THe 94/95 computers sucked balls, thats why you picked up a lot. My buddy went from a Carb to EFI setup on his notch before and it ran identical.

You guys are right. With a box stock carburetor, you wont gain anything over a decent EFI setup. However if the carburetor is right, it will make more power, but a little less torque. In my class there is a 75lb weight penalty for choosing to run a carb.
In James' buddies case, that thing prolly picked up 30 horse with an out of the box carb. There can be as much as 50 horsepower hidden in the carb, if you know what you are doing. Nice car James! Andy

Yea, real nice car!
I would also have to agree with Andy on this as well. Specially if you know how to play with the carbs. As goes for the Andersons PMS and the rest of the EFI stuff....I am in the process of taking one off a car and converting it to a carb set up. I guess we'll see if it can match the power after playing with the Mighty Demon series 650 on a 306. |

Show me what FI intake would out perform a carb intake or what FI intake would out perform a carb'd intake with the stock E7' heads. What I didnt mention is he put BBK equal length shorties on it. The car has MORE torque and horsepower throughout the RPM range than he had with the fuel injection. His car has 3.55 gears in it as so doees mine. I used to pull away from him before he did the swap. now I can't pull on him anymore.
Like I said before, show me a FI intake that would out perform a carb intake with the mods he has. If you want to make more naturally aspirated horsepower, go carb. The stock 5.0 intakes are restrictive. He actually bolted the carb down, adjusted the pumps, pressure and basically thats it. It runs perfect! Another example. My friend has a Mustang with a roller motor out of a 89. He went carb. He has stock headers, stock cam, stock everything. He is running a holley 550 with Victor Jr and his car is way more powerful than mine. Got to admit, if you want it to be easy, like turn the key and go, FI is the way to go. James

Question, why do you think they are making carb intakes for the mod motors if FI makes more HP? I am only talking naturally aspirated. James
