Re: !!!!!!FoXbOdY pAgE!!!!!!!
I've got a 12 second 1990 notchback.I use to have a 88GT convertible and a 90LX hatch.
So this is my 3rd fox body. They are good cars and easy to make fast but IMO the convertibles suck.

Re: !!!!!!FoXbOdY pAgE!!!!!!!
I'm the original owner of a 1990 Mustang LX hatchback; stock 5.0 & 5-speed BW trans.
I bought it, new, in March of 1990 and it currently has 125,000 miles on the odometer. A few minor mods like tubular subframe connectors, a PRO 5 0 shifter, Moroso CAI setup, aftermarket exhaust and a Ford Racing 3.55 ratio differential. Otherwise, it's stock. Ran a 13.9 once many years ago but I now only use ithe car sporatically (less than 1,000 miles per year) and am planning to sell it in the spring. It's not mint but still in very good condition for a 15-year-old Mustang. It's never been hit. I'm going to ask $4,500. for it as original owner, 5.0/5-speed Fox-bodied Mustangs are rare and even more rare are those that are in very decent condition, don't need work and have only had one (adult) owner for the life of the car. In the 15 years I've owned my Mustang I have had very few problems. Replaced a lot of tires and brake pads and have changed the oil and filter every 2,000 miles - from Day One. Replaced a water pump and a few other minor repairs over the years but otherwise, the 'Stang has been an absolute gem to own, both in reliability and fun-to-drive. The A/C blows cold, the radio still works just fine and she starts right up every time with no smoke, no problems. Great car that I will miss when it's gone but that I will also never forget. I hope your Mustang gives you as much pleasure as mine has given me over the years.

Actully the GT is only about 30 MAYBE 40 lbs heavier than the LX hatch. I had a GT that I was parting out and I weighted the effects when I took them off. They're not heavy at all. If you wanna talk light weight, it's all about the notch

Re: !!!!!!FoXbOdY pAgE!!!!!!!
Got a 1982 Mustang GT 4 speed. Everything on it is stock. Should i keep it stock or sup it up? Should i pull the 302 and put in the 351w?. I think it only has around 160 horse power as it is. But its a small car so it halls ass. Any tips on what to do with it would be helpful.

Re: !!!!!!FoXbOdY pAgE!!!!!!!
I like the GT just as much as the LX's. That LX hatch was born a 4cyl 5speed car. IMO, the notch cars look the best and, of course, they are the lightest. MR5.0, are you going to get another stang? I hate to hear you are selling your one owner fox body.

I'll still haunt the MW Blue Oval Lounge. Once I actually sell the 'Stang I will probably keep my well-known screen name for both familiarity and nostalgia but will change my designation to 'Mustang Owner Emeritus'. Life goes on and nothing ever stays the same.

Re: !!!!!!FoXbOdY pAgE!!!!!!!
1982GT, IMHO, probably the easiest and least expensive way to go is to find a complete 85GT engine, drop it in, add a catback for the 87-93 LX, get a better intake manifold, some stock 87-93 headers, and you should probably be making close to 250hp for cheap.
Jim, I'd keep the 90LX if I were you. Though you may run off a few dollars from it's value, it should remain a reliable daily driver for at least another 40,000 miles. I've had several fox bodies, and none of them was ready for retirement until after 150k. Let's not forget the freak 87GT which I loved to hate. It had 161k on it when I sold it for around $3500 a couple years ago, and it had it's share of issues at the time. Even so, it still managed to outrun my 01GT and my 02GT from a stop, and from a freeway roll without a problem with the timing still at 10*. |

I've had quite a few fox bodies myself:
1991 Mustang LX 2.3 1989 Mustang GT 5spd 1984 Mustang LX 5.0 1983 Mercury Zephyr 4dr 3.3L (fox body) 1981 Ford Fairmont 4dr 3.3L (fox body) 1983 Ford Fairmont Futura 3.3L (fox body) I love these cars and just can't get enough, i'm building an engine and trans for one to be decided. I'd like to get a early 80's mercury Capri, but they're harder to find. With an '82 GT at the very least i'd pick up some shorty headers (maybe even '85+ stock headers -better than '82's manifolds), a 4 barrel intake manifold and carb and a different camshaft plus some better rearend gears (or swap 8.8" rear axle with better gears) and you'll have a fun, quick and inexpensive car. The awesome thing about mustangs is you can do anything under the sun with them and the amount of combinations you can put together is almost infinate.
