swampcat - sounds like a gear or cam timing to me - this should not happen on a new car ... (sounds being so frequent) or another possibility - may sound strange but i heard of it before - the positioning of brakes shoes off a bit .. cant say for certain but check it out w/ your shop...(my school of thought on a car symptom is this - if it is not normal behaviour for your car - have it checked)... hope this helps -
