Should I sell my 65?
I have a 65 Coupe project car. I have rebuilt the 289, replaced the quarters, done most of the body work with my friend, but it sits right now because I don't have time to work on it. I have just a little bit of hard body work left, then the boring sanding and priming, to get it perfect before we can paint. Right now, it got moved to the driveway in my back yard while we are prepping 2 cars for shows.
A friend of my son's really wants to buy it. I said I would take $4000 for it as is with the parts that go with it (new interior, etc.), but I am not sure. Should I sell it?

Re: Should I sell my 65?
It sure has been nice having 2 late models in the garage at night, I don't have to fight Chad for the garage.

Re: Should I sell my 65?
Hell no,you'll be kicking yourself within a week about "how close you were ). Unless of course you were to give it to me (In that case, its just cluttering up the lawn )
Seriously, after all that work, you'll be much happier once its "cruisable", and worse case, if you're not, it'll be worth a lot more when you go to sell it. Just my .02 J

Re: Should I sell my 65?
My suggestion is to finish what you started and savor the satisfaction of doing so as well as eventually enjoying the fruits of your labor again when you can command a much better price for your restored '65.

Re: Should I sell my 65?
I bouught my '66 coupe as an almost new car in 68. I tried to sell it for $1000 in 75. I now thank God that nobody wanted it. Of course, I have spent another $20,000 to get it somewhat the way I want it. I still thank God that nobiody wanted it back in '75.

Re: Should I sell my 65?
Just my opinion but man don't sell that car...that car has serious potential. it can be worth way more than 4G's.....My day had a 66 fastback with a custom 289 in it and the last 1/4 mile time he ran was 9 seconds...and that was in 1978, he has since sold the body for 5G's and still has his 289 and tranny.

Re: Should I sell my 65?
Thanks for the input, I am pretty well convinced not to sell it. A trip to the famous Pate Swap Meet this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway will surely talk me out of it.

Re: Should I sell my 65?
It got moved to my backyard driveway for the better part of 2 months so we could have the whole garage to clean and detail 2 late model Mustangs for some shows. It was really nice having the garage back, but last weekend the 65 moved BACK into the garage and I am planning to resume working on it this weekend. Thanks for the input.
Hey Jerri

Re: Should I sell my 65?
Finish what you started and you will enjoy the car for all the hard work and soul you put into it. Dad restored an old early 70s car ten years ago and complained about not getting time to work on it - but decided a couple hrs. here & there to get it done ... - When he did - it was awesome and people asked him to drive for weddings, etc. and he was proud! - we also got to spend more tome with him that way - good luck !
