Talking Tires:

So I got tires for my baby yesterday. I got in on the internet because they were really expensive in town. I still ended it up paying $600.00 for them.

This is the most I have ever paid for tires in my whole life. Please somebody tell me they have paid more and help me feel better?!

Exclamation Re: Tires:

$600. for four tires is a lot. That comes to $150. per tire. Typical, non-performance passenger car tires usually run around $80.- $100. each, or even less with off-brands and smaller sizes. 'Performance' tires (16 - 17", 'V' or 'Z' rated) around $1100. to $130. each, at least, in my experience. Of course, when you factor in balancing, valves, possibly an alignment and whatever taxes you had to pay, it's not unimaginable that you paid $150. per tire, although that's more than I've ever shelled out, even for V-rated rubber.

I'll guess that you might have bought your new tires through Tire Rack, and if so, had to pay local 'mounting fees', which can seriously raise the final, on-the-car-and-out-the-door price of the tires. Whatever the 'deal', I hope you got some super tires for that kind of cash!

Well I paid 750 dollars to have tires put on my mystic. That included mounting and balancein and all the stupid taxes california throws in. So it was about 600 for just all four tires.

I priced tires in town and it was like $700 or more. So I decided to go with Tire rack. I paid $50.00 to have them put on and balance them so that was not bad.

My wheels were already there when I bought the car and they make the car look really cool so I figured I will leave them for now. My wheels are 18" the ones on the front are 8.5" and 10" in the back.

18" tires are expensive, so $600 is cheap IMO. fwiw, my slicks are $170 each, but luckily I only have to buy 2 at a time

My thoughts exactly, I paid $180 each for the two MT Drag radials (17") and another $170 each for ET Streets (15")
Don't feel too bad. This is an expensive hobby.
