Question

I'm getting tired of seeing people get all worked up on threads that were intended to be a joke.

Why is it so many people on this board have the desire to take everything personally and lash out at other members?

As long as nobody is ripping on you, or other members and is just having a little fun, knock off the BS negative **** . Unless of course you are just having a little fun back.

As long as we're discussing pet peeves, I'm going to share #1 on my list:

Calling nitrous oxide NOS. It is n2o. NOS is a brand name, and an acronym for Nitrous Oxide Systems.

I laugh when I see people ask what brand of NOS system they should purchase. They answered their own question.

I agree with you Unit 5302.

I'm gonna have to give the people who are seemingly getting pissed off the benefit of the doubt in saying that they are just joking. I don't understand why they would even take the time to post a negative reply if they didn't like the topic (that's a waste of time).

THIS IS MUSTANG WORKS DUDES.

I guess the usage of brand names as the actual product only gets to me every once and a while. Some times it's just easier to use the brand name rather than the technical term.

Kleenex vs Tissue
Formica vs Laminate
NOS vs N20
Rollerblades vs In line skates (this one is really ackward)

In the south, one that really does annoy me is the use of "Coke" to refer to all brands of pop (or soda if you're not from the midwest), as in what kind of coke would you like.

You just have to take it with a grain of salt though, people who don't know better usually look at you like you're nuts if you try to explain it anyway.

Unit and Fox, thank you.

Speaking of brand names.....Lots of people have Posi-traction, even in their Fords and Mopars.

Unit, I've live in the south most of my life and I have never understood the Coke thing.
Me:"Bubba, I'm going to the store, you want anything?"
Bubba:"Get me a Coke"
Me:"Diet or regular"
Bubba:"Grape Nehi"
Me:????????????

if you really want to split hairs... try this: then vs. than
Then is a word to describe time... this happened THEN this
than is a word to describe feelings towards objects... i like my ford better THAN your chevy.
When you are in college (and have passed english classes ) you can just split hairs all damn day long!! So why don't we stop complaining so much and just relax and have some fun laughing at the Chevy stomping stories and fellow girl/boy-friend heart breaks. I say boy/girl friend because if you only use girlfriend we are sexist... and if we say he/she all the time without reversing the roles once and awhile like she/he, we are still considered sexist since we are still putting men first. just being a smart a$$ ... see how this is a snowball? Yes the butterfly-chaos factor is in effect (or is that affect? )

Damn, S Howard, I didn't know you were so interested in ancient Egyptians. Better watch out, you wouldn't want to be accused of "racial profiling" arabs. LOL.
