hmmm... I have a bone stock 2000 GT. It's very special since no one yet has said they have blown the 13.69 quarter mile with a stock 2000GT.
How did you find out those stats about your car though scott93gt??? It's really cool to know these things... ------------------ Lizard King - 00GT >> 13.698 @ 101.2MPH - BONE STOCK, yes BONE(even air filter) stock. "I can do anything, I'm the Lizard King." - The Doors |

Scott - I've bought my 65 K in 1996 after searching for about 3 years. Not an easy car to find, especially with all the original HiPo drive train parts intact. The clincher was that it was a California car for its first 28 years, with rust free original floor and trunk pans and frame rails. The body was also dead straight with no trace of bondo anywhere and the previous owner had a packet containing 22 years of documentation on the car. Spent the last four years doing mostly mechanical rebuilds and some cosmetic resto - not quite done but getting there.

Ford keeps financial records for 8 model years. By entering the last 8 of any vin number for any Ford product into the computer it tells original MSRP, Invoice total, which dealer ordered the car and which dealer sold the car. I entered all the vin numbers for the other 89 cars with same interior / exterior and compared MSRP. There were 2 that came up EXACTLY the same, the other 5 were built between September 92 and January 93 before Ford rasised transportation charges and increased the price by $153. I then entered the copmplete vin number into Ford's warranty system and determined which cars had optional axle (a no charge item that does not affect cost). It took a couple of hours to do because I printed everything for authentication. I wish Ford would keep records longer, the Third Generation Mustang is the next classic (my 2 cents). Jaydee How did you find the car since you are in Conn? I know the rust free, bondo cars are getting more difficult to locate, especially all original. I know someday, 20 years from now, finding an all original, rust free etc. 1989 Mustang GT will (hopefully) be a treasure also. Scott |

Scott - My car was owned by a 67 yr old guy (never to old to get your dream stang!)from just outside of Buffalo N.Y. He brought the car back from the west coast in 1992, as it was a car he always wanted and he bought it as soon as he saw it, while on a business trip. He put about 3,500 miles on it in four years and sold it due to illness. He consigned it with a friend of his who is small dealer who handles vintage stuff here in Conn. and this guy placed a small ad in one of the local papers. Funny thing is I probably drove at least 5,000 miles over three years looking for a good K car and this one was about 20 miles from my house - ya never know where you'l find em.

Another good way to get some info on your car is to call Ford's customer service center. Give them your VIN number and ask for a build sheet. It's kind of like a window sticker but more detailed. A lot of cars actually have them somewhere underneath the rear seats. It's just easier to have Ford send you one. I got one for my car and it's an '84. It took a bit longer than usual since they had to send it to their research dept. But I was amazed to even get it. To me that says soemthing about Ford's service....even for cars that are 16+ years old.

The link I was referring to is http://www.etconnect.com/gt/tgnr/ At the bottom of the page is a link to his order form that you can print and filll out. Then send it to the address at the bottom of the web page: Stewart Jones 923 Raleigh Road Palm Bay, FL 32909 The $20.00 gets you a nice laminated history report on your car, when it was built, what number it was in the total production, the number built the day yours was built, etc. I don't know how he has this information but I can tell you that I cross referenced the numbers he sent me through Ford's computer and they check out. If you simply want to know how many were built like yours, send him and e-mail and he will reply in about 48 hours. Jaydee It sounds to me like you got the same advice I did when I was looking for a car. I wanted a Corvette (70-77) and I looked everywhere but couldn't find the car I wanted (or could afford in some cases). My dad told me to relax and quit looking so hard and 6 months later my Mustang just pulled into the dealership. Scott |
