might get a probe
I've been looking for a car and getting kind of despert sense school starts monday. Any way i found a 1993 ford probe for $2500 with 133,000 miles. It has a 4 banger(i think the 2.0 liter mazda engine) and a 5-speed. How fast were these cars. Didn't some come with turbos?

Yes some of the probes did come with turbos and they were good for a 15.8 the non-turbo models usualy run mid to high 16's stock at the track the probe would be good for transportation but is not a car that I would dump money into performance parts on.
With $2,500.00 I would wait until I had 4,000.00 or so and get something that I really wanted like a fox body stang with a V8 Now that is something that you can poor your heart and sole into. ------------------ 88 mustang gt convertible bored to 306 BBk equal length headers mac cold air fender kit 3.73 FMS gears cowl hood nitto drag radials ford racing clutch flow masters h-pipe 160* thermostat 16 degrees of timing electric fan off 94' t-bird jacobs electronics cap and wires. The older body style probes did come with a turbo version of the 4 banger. The newer probe GT's came with a 3.0L V6. Although I never did drive a GT I heard that it was a very smooth V6.
I like the newer body style probe and would buy one as a daily driver. 5.0 HO is right though, I wouldn't put any money into it. You'd have to sell the farm to get alot of performance without using Nitrous. And even then I would rather buy an older fox. But good choice for a daily driver. My mom had the 2.0L I4. It was a nice little car. ------------------ 1995 Mustang GT |

The problem with probes is that even just a simple oil change suck to do on them. The filter is tiny and hidden halfway up the back of the engine. Not to mention if you have the adjustable sport suspension, it costs like $300 or more per strut because they're a one of a kind strut and now obsolete. In general the cars aren't all that bad though, they're pretty good transportation. If you want something to modify, just save up for a 'stang. I've never liked any modified Probe's i've ever seen (usually look kinda ricey), but to each his own. The important thing is to not rush into buying anything especially if you don't know if you'll like it. You'll almost never get out of a car what you put into it, so it might as well be a car that you like. Good luck, i hope you find something you'll enjoy driving/modifying/running into mailboxes (sorry bad joke) just given ya some sh/t!

I was just searching the net one day and I crossed a site that a kid had a probe and was running like 13.2's with Nitrous. Not too shabby.
