Anyone looking to buy a 97 Cobra R??
I went out looking yesterday for a new blazer and stumbled upon a mint condition 1997 Cobra R. It had all black leather, red exterior, short throw shifter, 285's in the rear, white face guages. Heres the nice part: Full Kenny Brown Suspension and a Vortech supercharger and a dyno sheet that showed 487rwhp. Its only $25,000...I WANT!!!
Hell, my gf and I are spending that much on a damn blazer, maybe I can talk her into it. They also had a red 99 Lightening for sale too, but no price tag. ------------------ 347 Stroker Motor: Balanced, Tremec, Extrude Ported and Polished Upper and ported Lower, GT40 Milled Ported and Polished Heads, B303 Cam, 30lb Bosch Injectors, Holley AFPR, March Pulleys, Perma-Cool Fan, 3-Core Radiator, Accel Performance Coil, Accel 300+ Wires, Ram Air, K&N, 73mm MAF, 70mm TB, FlowMaster w/BBK Offroad H-Pipe, BBK Headers, Hurst Shifter, 3:73 Gears, Ram Clutch, Cross Drilled Rotors, AC, smog, and rear seat deleted, battery relocated Awaiting new heads, intake, custom cam |

What is the number to that dealer? I want to talk to them. I'm sure that soemone inside Ford would too. Cobra R's were only produced in 93 95 and 00. I hate dealers.

They are Circle City car sales located on the east side of Indy.. They might have said it was a '95 but I would swear they told me it was a 97... I guess I will be making a trip back up there Saturday to talk to them... even if they did tell you it was a 95 then its still not a Cobra R, because they only made the R in white that year, not red FYI all 94-up cobras have white face guages i'll have to go by there next weekend when i go home from college and check it out if its not sold already, or call a friend and tell him to go by there and figure out what it REALLY is ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, full exhaust,65mm TB, Nitto DR's, new best 1/4--> 13.42@106.18 (1.89 short time) |

Was it a 5.0 or a 4.6. If it was a 5.0 it was a 94 or 95. If it was a 4.6 you got a 96 and up

Oh christ that doesn't suprise me at all. Dealers NEVER know ANYTHING about the mods on Mustangs or Lightnings. Their ignorance has really surprised and disgusted me many times. I've had to point out obvious mods that they didn't even notice or care to mention to me. I'll never buy a non-stock car from a dealer...well...I'll never buy a modded car anyways! oh crap i didnt know they put a GM motor in the 95 R
i know what you meant, but the 351 is considered a 5.8L not 5.7 (GM 350) the car cant possibly be a 2000 R, he said it has black leather interior, the R has black cloth Recaro seats ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, full exhaust,65mm TB, Nitto DR's, new best 1/4--> 13.42@106.18 (1.89 short time) |

Sorry to do this to you tire frier, but the 95 R was a 5.8L or a 351 if you want to get technical. The 5.4 is not a modified 4.6L. The 5.4 is a seperate casting altogether. And just so everyone knows, the 5.4 is the same as a 331, with a really short stroke. Why does Ford put that in the Cobra and get it over with??

I am smart enough to know its not a 00 Cobra R..And for that matter, its not a 95 either. I think its just a 97 Cobra and they are just refering to it as a R. Due to the ricer mentallity of there salesman. I am going to stop by there on my way home tonight and check it out for sure.

bigwhitecobra the only thing thats the same between the 5.4 and the stroked 331 (5.0L block) is the displacement, the 5.4 is overhead cam (DOHC in the R) and is significantly different than the 331 stroker, (if thats the one your comparing it to)

Rolling through town last night, I see that car and it ends up that a buddy of mine bought it. He gave me a ride in it. He got in second gear and just started easing down on the throttle and the tires started chirping..That car is BADASS!

I tell you what, I wish I heard more stories about the dealers getting screwed then the consumer, but I guess thats the way the ball bounces like it or not. I can tell you this though, they aren't gonna screw me.
