Throwing in another curve ball
What about guys like Dark_5.0 that race at 3,000 above sea level? Will you use the NHRA formula for conversion?
Not trying to be a pain, just something you may want to consider. E

Just a thought, but i think you should leave the numbers as they are, rather than converting them, and just put a footnote number by the entry, and list their track elevation at the coresponding number at the bottom of the page. The question afterall is "how fast did you go", not "how fast would you have gone (if you were at a sea-level track)".
Just my opinion. Take care, ~Chris

Thanks Chris (do you ever get sick of me saying that to you???) LOL!
...that's just the opinion I was looking for, and THAT is how it will be done. When submitting entries, it is up to the entrant to add what elevation the track is at, along with a source that I can contact to verify the info, like a webpage link or a phone number for the track. Again, I'm serious about this list... I think it would be very worthwhile and makes for healthy competition and motivation to go quicker/faster. This list should really "light up" when the spring/summer comes around... I just might have my hands full, but I'm up to the task and have been thinking about it alot here recently. |

I could care less whether you use an elevation conversion or not since my local track is around ~900 ft. above sea level and therefore doesn't really impact ET's much at all...plus I will probably be on page 3 or 4 of the top 100 list!
I'm just throwing things out for you to consider. Also, many other sites I visit have a top 10, 50 or whatever list. I always wondered why we didn't have a list too? E

I agree that elevation shouldnt be considered when naming the 50 fastest.
Trust me even at 3000ft I will hold my own. LT headers, X-pipe and 4.30 gears are fixing to be installed on my 01' slobra. Hopefully my LX will make the cobra seem slow by comparison. Hears a twist though, in case of a tie the guy with the highest elevation gets the win _________________________ This is exactly what this site needed, I think it will make it alot more fun. Later,

I just hope I can make it in the top 50.
I have a feeling that once the word speads people will register with fast cars just to post there slip and be in the top 50. I think the cars will range anywhere from 9 to low 12 second ET's. I also think it shouldnt be limited to just mustangs it would be more interesting if the GM and import members could make the list too. Man, I am getting motivated already,

I'm too slow for top 50.....and most likely top 100 also.....guess I won't go through the trouble of scanning slips then....
This is a great idea, I'm looking forward to seeing the list and watching the competition..... |

This isn't my deal, and I'm not telling anyone what to do, but, at least to start out, make it simple, but personal. This will be a great addition to this website, but let's make it FOR this website. Know what I mean? My nickle. Take care, ~Chris

I agree since it is a mustang website it should be a top 100 list for mustangs only. Start out simple with now rules just to get it going. The fastest 100 or 50 cars make it nomatter what they run. Then when it gets going and has more developments add categories and stuff. It will just make it alot easier to get things gooing. Start out simple and move on from there. It is a great idea and i can't wait to see it happen.
On a side note in a couple of years i plan on being in the top ten. just wait and see.

I'm in. This spring i will finish my car up and should lay down some good times. I'm looking for a low 11 to a high 10 NA, and a low 10 if I decide to hook up some juice. It won't be the fastest, but it might make the list.

Please feel free to start submitting your entries folks... I need to get some preliminary data together for a decent start. Even if you're not proud of your current best, posting it will be all the more incentive to improve.
I need a pic and a timeslip.... or, if you want, just send me your timeslip and when your times improve, send a pic with the timeslip to make the update legit. Sound good? |

now i can't wait to get out there in the spring when my Cobra is done and ready to go.
my question on this would refer to street cars and full-out drag cars. i don't know who has what but will there be a street list and a seperate drag car list? now i have no idea who has a drag car and who doesn't, i was just throwing the question out there. but the idea is really well thought out, should help liven this place up even more.

...please see the proposed format Tod
1/4 ET @ MPH.....1/8 ET @ MPH.....60ft......username.....aspiration/CID/weight/stick or auto (what kind)/tires (what size/type)/duty (street/strip or drag) I would like to keep everyone on one list to keep things simple, and organized. Upon viewing the list, it will be obvious, I'm hoping, what duty the car serves primarily. Make sense? -Ryan |

What do you mean when you say you want a pic and a timeslip? A picture of the car with the race numbers still on it, and a scanned pic of the timeslip too? Or just a pic of the car on any ole day, and then a copy of the timeslip?
drew is confused still in awe after all the amazing things I just saw at the PRI show

Yep... you got it. That way there's no BS involved. At this point, since I haven't heard from either Dan McClain or Jeff Chambers, this whole list idea is still up in the air.... I can keep track of the entries, however, until I hear from them. And for starters, I will accept just a scan of the timeslip... any updates will require a pic of the car w/ numbers corresponding to the timeslip. I will place a * next to entries without picture verification. PRI show eh??? I'm jealous! |
