About the guy who made the comments that it would take an LS1 to catch Stangs, here's a moment of clarity for you. The LT1 had no problem catching Stangs (still don't!), or for that matter, almost every other "everyday" car you see on the roads. The B4C-equipped Camaro is THE FASTEST car in the law enforcement fleet of ALL TIME. That includes being faster than the Stangs. I understand that this is a Ford website, and a great one it is, but c'mon now.....I don't see this much bashing (on Stangs) on CamaroZ28.com. You ALL know that the LT1s and LS1s aren't slow, so why do you say they are? Denial or something? Been wiped up by one too many? Just remember, there's ALWAYS somebody faster. I like Stangs just as much as I like Camaros. What about brand loyalty? None here. I buy from whomever has what I like. For matter of fact, I'm seriously considering a Bullitt Mustang when they come out! That's one hot car (even though it's slower than the Fbodies). For some people it isn't about speed, it's about what they like. I was at the DC carshow a few weeks ago, and lemme tell ya....I sat in a Camaro, then a new Mustang GT, and the Mustang was sooooooo much nicer inside. The materials were much nicer, and it felt like it was a better build. When I closed the doors, they didn't sound like they had tin cans in them. I liked the view out of it also. The price? I'd give 22k for one. However, the Camaro had its very nice points as well. I thought it was ergonomically laid out better, and I personally like "sitting on the floor." I feel like I'm in a sportscar. I also found the seats to be more comfortable (but uglier!), and the interior to be a bit more roomy inside. I've always been a huge Camaro fan, but it doesn't matter to me what type of car I buy as long as I like it. [This message has been edited by Dan Oldham (edited 01-13-2001).] |

If Atlanta has Lexus patrol cars I'd say there needs to be a serious investigation on the departments spending. That is YOUR money they are wasting. Of course they may just be trying to stick with the tried and true front engine, RWD platform, and the american car companies failed miserably at marketing those cars. I suppose they could be driving Lincoln LS'.
They should be driving something in the Taurus SE class and saving the extra 15 grand to put towards something else, like doing more partrolling, and less ticketing since they obviously don't need the revenue. Oh, I'd also have to agree with the LT-1's taking us on top end. They are rated from the factory at better than 150mph. Maybe the Cobra could take it? Other than that, they are just too slippery in the wind tunnel. Now 0-120, that's a different story for many stock, and very light modded Stangs. A cop has no business going over 120 IMHO, even if he's chasing a murder suspect. That's what the choppers and backup are for. |

Oh, and Mr. Dan Oldham, her 14 flat dream machine most certainly would have taken the old LT-1 to 120mph, probably to 140mph, and if the cop had to actually run over and start his POS camaro, it wouldn't have been that car that caught her.
The new GT's run circles around the old LT-1's so it looks like your was a little misguided. LT-1, hahahahahahaaha. I beat those guys in my near stock 87 GT with 140k on it. Unfortunately, also worth noting is since the Camaro wouldn't have been able to hold up to another 120mph run without dropping it's pathetic auto tranny, it would have been up to the backup squads, you know, the Ford Crown Vics to bust her. At least you can count on them to keep going down the road, and radio's are faster than her GT. Let me leave you with this. Fleening in MN is a felony, yep, you go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200, so you better be beyond sure before you try it. |

Oh, and how would you know what the 4L60E automatic transmission withstands? Have you had experience with them? Yeah, that's what I thought. I didn't think so. At 120mph, the LT1 isn't even breathing hard. I've got 115,800 on my car and the 4L60E is running as good now as it ever did. The 4L60E is one of THE BEST automatic transmissions IN THE WORLD, not to mention the Borg-Warner 6speeds, which also found their way into Vipers, which is very good also. Oh, now you wanna talk about a close-to-stock 87POSGT that you own...right on a whopping 14.5 quartermile stock. What a rocket. With your "minor" mods you probably run a blistering 14.1 now. Now, don't get all immature and huffy just because I drive a Camaro and you don't like it. I understand that you have that mentality that everyone that doesn't own a Mustang is your enemy. I can tell by your posts. Aside from that, it seems that you are the only one here running your mouth because you don't like the truth. And.....from the majority of the intelligent people on this board, I don't think anyone is going to agree with you that the 99GT will run circles around the LT1 Camaros. I'd be willing to bet that you are on your own on that one. Nobody is here to plot against you, or even start a pissing match with you, so you can just calm down. So sorry I hit a "soft spot" by telling you that the Mustang will not walk an LT1 Fbody. ------------------ Email: RatedZ@aol.com 1994 B4C Camaro LT1, 4L60E, 3.23 gears, Flowmaster muffler, Moroso cold air intake, Hypertech Power Programmer , airfoil 13.7 @ 100mph http://hometown.aol.com/ratedz/ratedz/html [This message has been edited by Dan Oldham (edited 01-13-2001).] |

OK OK! Mr. Dan Oldham, I have to stop luaghing before i can reply! OK. A new GT is much faster than a 14.3 1/4 mile time if you know how to drive the car. And the "new LT1's are LS1's ignoramous, that meens aluminum block, different heads and other stuff! Light Em Up!!!

Oh, and one more, ignoramous....the LT-1 and the LT1 are TOTALLY DIFFERENT motors! The parts aren't even interchangeable! The new GT is MUCH faster than 14.3? LOL! You make it sound like it's capable of running mid 13s....but wait....that's "if you can launch it." The GT will stick next to the LT1 up to about 75mph at best, and that's if the driver can drive. Well, "if you can launch" an LT1, you're going to score 13.60s with the 6speed, and around mid 13.70s with the automatics. I know LOTS of people that have run 13.60s with 6speeds right off the showroom floor, paper airfilter and all. ------------------ Email: RatedZ@aol.com 1994 B4C Camaro LT1, 4L60E, 3.23 gears, Flowmaster muffler, Moroso cold air intake, Hypertech Power Programmer , airfoil 13.7 @ 100mph http://hometown.aol.com/ratedz/ratedz/html |

I'm sorry Dan but you're a frickin moron. There is nothing worse than a guy who thinks he knows cars when he really knows jack **** . There are getting to be far to many idiots like yourself out there. Your right, from the factory my car should run 14.40 @ 98mph. With minor mods and freebies that's now 14.0 possibly 13's, at, oh **** , a better trap speed than your POS. You want to talk torque advantage, then you cite that the new GT couldn't run you down? Hahahahaha, you idiot, the new GT has a quicker trap speed than you, yet it's ET is slower, which means, maybe you get the hole shot, but by the end of the track you're being reeled in, in a big way. Please, get a clue, you drive a POS, and I'd have no problem showing that to you with my GT. Pathetic, you're just pathetic.
Since a bone *** stock 99+ GT will run the quarter at 14.0@101, as tested by all the fricken shitheads at the car mags even, your sick *** LT-1 is looking mighty sad. The new GT has a higher trap speed when being driven by an idiot than what your sad *** LT-1 can pull off with you behind the wheel. Hahahahahahahaha, you also think you walked a 300ZX TT on the hiway, right, the monsters only have a little better than 300hp, I like the way you state they weigh 3600 lbs, yeah, that gives your lard *** car a real advantage. I would further like to see the day a sad *** piece of **** LT-1 pulls a 13.6 from the factory! Get a clue they are a low 14 second car. Even with light mods you can't do better than the stone stock time you are quoting for the auto's, so what the **** is wrong with your car, or is it you just can't drive? It's quite obvious to me you have mycarscoolitis (the unreasonable belief that your car is worth the tires it rides on). Camaro's are cheap pieces of **** , everybody who has a clue knows it, which is why they can't sell them no matter what they try. Dude, get the **** outta here, you're annoying. There is a quote thread running, here's one for you! "His ignorance is painful!" |

I just can't believe it, every time I read Dan Oldhams post's I find more BS! It's unreal, like your car isn't even breaking a sweat at 140, hehe, you're right you've got a full 10mph before you wind out, maybe 15 if your really lucky.
Next thing you'll be saying you take stock Supra TT's top end too? Get a clue, I just can't stand stupid people, you just bug the **** outta me! Calm down? I've heard enough BS outta you already, you're so full of **** I feel I have to call you on it. People like you run aroud misquoting info here, there, everywhere about your own cars to all the rest of the cars out there and it makes me nuts. More and more of your folk out there all the time! What does it take to keep you jerks from breeding? Damn! |

He thinks he's got something fast in his 14.0 POS GT Mustang LOL! Hell, I don't even think my car's fast! This guy's just some dumbass teenager that doesn't have a clue. He about summed it up when he made the name "unit." If he had the balls to run, I'd have no problems with showing him a set of LT1 taillights. Evil, I love the way he calls the LT1 crap, when the LT1s will wipe his *** any day of the week, twice on Sunday......just for the record, Evil, how fast did your Stangs run BONE STOCK? You seem like a guy that would tell the truth. My favorite part is how he gets so defensive towards people because they don't own Mustangs. He's a true sign of a typical punk-sh*t teenager that has a chip on his shoulder and rides around with his cap on backwards revving his engine at Hondas because he feels inferior to anything else on the highway. He's one of those punks that thinks he's got a hotrod because it's got a set of Flowmasters and a K&N. I think he's just gotten his *** kicked by EVERY stock LT1 that's pulled up next to him. My favorite part of the little imbred's post is the part about Stangs running the LT1s up to 120mph. I couldn't stop laughing with that one. He humors me by acting like he knows what he's talking about when he's just clueless. I hope he keeps up the good work, because this fool brightens my day. I actually woke up this morning anxious to get on to this board just to see what Dick, errrr, I mean Unit would say. BTW, how do you like your Camaro? ------------------ Email: RatedZ@aol.com 1994 B4C Camaro LT1, 4L60E, 3.23 gears, Flowmaster muffler, Moroso cold air intake, Hypertech Power Programmer , airfoil 13.7 @ 100mph http://hometown.aol.com/ratedz/ratedz/html |

OK guys, I'm not to shure what the new Stangs run, but I do know some fast LT1's! my buddy's 97' Z-28 ran 12.80's @ 104+MPH with only bolt-ons!! he had the stock cam, heads, and intake, never had the valve covers off even, he did have a 3000 stall and 373 gears! I have heard that the new Stangs run better than a couple of years back but have not saw any at the track to compare times with!

In other words, I hustle down the quartermile and get to the finish line FIRST, so it doesn't really matter how fast you're reeling ANYBODY in, right? Sorry, YOU LOSE! Strike 2. So, magazines tested the GT at 14.0 @ 101mph. Soooooo, what you're saying is that you stake your claim by what a MAGAZINE is telling you, correct? Sorry, magazines are WAAAAAAY INACCURATE! Strike 3. Well, here's the final blow. My car isn't worth the tires it rides on. Hmmmmm. That's why I have a B4C Camaro, which there are only about FIFTEEN HUNDRED of, and you have a GT Mustang that everyone and their grandmother has, right? Strike 4. YOU'RE OUT! My front wheel is worth more than your crusty and rusty 87 GT. But, to end this post, I honestly do apologize to all of the rest of the Stangers in here. I also feel your pain, of having someone like this person "on your team." As I stated before, ladies and gentleman, I didn't come here to start a flaming war, but it seems that one of your "soldiers" decided to take it personally and attack someone because that person chooses to drive a car other than a Mustang. People like him make me feel extremely fortunate to be part of the Fbody family. ------------------ Email: RatedZ@aol.com 1994 B4C Camaro LT1, 4L60E, 3.23 gears, Flowmaster muffler, Moroso cold air intake, Hypertech Power Programmer , airfoil 13.7 @ 100mph http://hometown.aol.com/ratedz/ratedz/html |

To be able to drive a camaro as your everyday patrol car, you would probabily have to be a high activity officer, so wouldnt you want to right as many tickets as you could to be able to get payed to drive an LS1 all day???

Well, since the only LT-1 I've lost to was a '96 Vette, and it wasn't by much, and I've kicked many an LT-1's *** , I'd have to say either every Camaro driver on the road can't drive, or they aren't nearly as fast as you claim. I could go back to the mag tests on them, for which Chevy has been well known to provide "freak" cars that perform much better than the ones that really hit the street, and to my suprise, they don't run as good as the new GT's. Your observations are correct about the magazines being errant on their test numbers, they are almost always high. In smaller words for you, cars they test can be go much quicker if the driver knows what he's doing. I've been seeing numerous posts and sigs on this board with the new GT's running 13.7's off the showroom floor. I don't know if I necessrily believe them, but it's pretty commonplace to see at this point, which gives them much more credibility to me. No matter what way you look at it, to run 13.5-13.6 with a stock LT-1 powered Camaro, it'd be a "freak". I'm sorry your LT-1 Camaro's aren't king of the road anymore, and that stock GT's can now beat you. It would appear that you just can't handle your little reign on stock performance over all the Stangs out there coming to an end.
I'm glad some one can pull 12.90's out of his Camaro SS out there, which must mean the one that couldn't lose me either runs high 13's, or my car is a freak? Course the WS6 Ram Air LS-1 that I beat (with all due respect both were convertables) may have well been an auto, but I beat him soundly to 70mph from a dead stop. I don't know what to tell you, either they are tricky to drive or there are some discrepency's in the way they perform. I have no beef with Camaro owners, well, not much beef anyway, which is not the reason I started this post, and obviously, since you know very little about the new Mustangs you should keep your asses shut. You like to quote my car, as a 14.5 second machine, fine, it just shows you can't deal with me on a straight up level. That would indicate to me that you have lost whatever argument which you were trying to win, morons. Oh, I'm glad some one else thinks running 9's makes you smart. Just because I don't have 30 grand to throw at my car doesn't make me uninformed. Also, whoop de doo, your other cars are faster than me, wow, good job. I'm really impressed. What an idiot. I'm tired of fighting with idiots who become ridiculously defensive when somebody calls them on their BS. But if you'd like to enlist the rest of you little Camaro buddies to bolster you efforts go ahead, I really don't care. Interestingly, that would be the same technique ricers use when somebody calls them on their BS. Yet another trend I'm seeing that annoys me. The new GT's are most definately 14 flat cars with trap speeds in the 100's when driven well, and yes, it would appear that an excellently driven car is capable of mid 13's with almost no mods. PS If you need me to shrink this post down and use easier words here is the shortened version. The new GT's are just as quick if not quicker than the LT-1 Camaros, and anyone who disagree's is uninformed. |

Okay, this has gone far enough. I'm closing this because some people apparently can't control their emotions on this topic, or haven't heard of something called E-MAIL. Yes this is a Ford-oriented web site, one of the best out here, but it's NOT a flaming board, and it will NOT become one.
I'm sorry to others reading this I didn't close this thread earlier before it got ugly. My apologies. ------------------ Capri306, Moderator, The Mustang Works Online 1979 Mercury Capri, 5.0L -- C4 -- 2.73 1987 Mustang LX Notch <--- New Timeslips |
