Sure, I always think about the white walls... First I think, get the paint thinner, wipe the white walls clean, then spray them black and mount them on the inside. White walls... ! Have you lost your mind man? You knew better all along... you were just pullin' my leg. I see from your car description that you have black bullitts... got a black car?

Yep, I go the bullets...black ones, and a black car. Check out my media gallery for photos. There are still older photos there too with the stock rims.

I have the black "deep dish" bullets in the back. I really like them, but I need to get the car lowered.

Take it for what it's worth, but my humble opinion is to leave the TCC alone. Not only is it good for fuel economy, but modifying it will probably get your warranty voided, and the Mach 1's auto transmission is just about the only auto tranny that Ford has gotten right in the past 20 years. The auto Mach 1's are running right with the sticks from everything that I've seen (small miracle for the enhanced AOD called the 4R70W)

While the Mach 1 may have 300ft/lbs of torque, and its got a lot more of that torque lower than what the N/A 1996-2001 Cobra's had, it's still a higher rpm engine than the older muscle cars, and the kickdown for passing is there to prevent the engine from lugging. Lugging is an especially troublesome problem considering its ridiculous 225* operating temp.

I think you're right on all counts, I'll just have to get used to all that needless shifting in town driving. The 225 running temp is a problem waiting to happen... i'm looking at a few options that include aftermarket thermostats that are adjustable and should not trigger a lite. Flex-O-Lite has one, for example, which uses a probe to sense radiator incoming fluid temp and allows you to set your own parameters, and can be taken off the car quickly if you need to see the dealer for some other warranty problem. There are a few others out there also, see Jegs catalog. They are not very expensive and can save your rings in hotter climates. Life is good, it's just these little rubs here and there. Also I'm going to add a two guage pillar pod, one for vacuum which I consider to be one of the most useable instruments and the other will be for a 270 degree sweep coolant temperature guage (with actual numbers). That means I will need another sender. I'll have to locate the sender that is currently on the car to see if maybe I can tee off that location. I need to see what is actually happening with the temperatures, the factory guage is useless.

Have you considered a shift kit for your transmission? There a number our there. Transgo has a realtively cheap version and there are others. I can look them up if you are interested. Give you more control over whats going on.

Bout the time your were buying the AMX I was buying the first performance rotary, Mazada Rx2. Those were the days....

I like Fords but I am really interested to see if the GTO can make a come back. When that car first came out it really changed the game.

i am a converter builder who does alot of work with these 4r70w converters.
i believe there are major benefits to these lockup converters.
you can increase the stall of the converter giving gobs of power in low gears and even more power in 3rd under wide open throttle.
but when you just want to cruise you get the same gas mileage you always got.
