The RX7 falls on it's face at about 80k. Not to mention from 80-120 a stock 5.0 will own it.

Even a lightly modded 5.0 will show an RX7 it's taillights. I don't know where the impression came from that the RX7 is fast?? It's got a lot of horsepower, but a horrible powerband. Even more horrible than the S2000 in my opinion. The TT RX7 made a pathetic 217lb/ft of torque, and an unimpressive 255hp. While there is the potential of the factory turbo car, getting one into the 12's is far more difficult than a Supra, or 300ZX TT. The RX7 is a road race car, not a drag car. It also didn't sell.

Seems like the true test of that car was failed. The Mustang lives on.

I've seen one of those Challengers in real life. At Mile High Nationals in Denver this past summer. It was AWESOME!! I was pretty sure it was a 2 door...maybe not though....

Dodge had a big display of some of their cars. A brand new Viper (instant hard-on), a new Power Wagon, the Challenger, and a Prowler.

Cool stuff....

You guys need more 'lines over there

RB26DETT 2568cc DOHC 24 valve EFI Straight 6 Twin Turbo 208kw @ 6800rpm 392nm @ 4400rpm and that's stock.

Too bad they've stopped production of GTR's so no chance of Nissan America bringing em in, maybe if they release an R35 GTR (not the crappy 4 door family sedan you guys got) they might bring em to america.

Till then enjoy your stangs, vipers n vettes, coz down here there's not many of em, wuld love to drive one.

For everyone speculating about the Skyline GTR, two things.

1. The g35 sedan is the the current Skyline sedan in Japan.
2. The g35 coupe (due in spring) will be basically a rebadged 350z.
3. Plans are in the werks at Nissan to put the 4.1 v8 out of the Q (and M) into a GTR couple with the possibility of F/I.

The GTO-
Coming over sometime after GM pulls its head out about holden, but its coming.

The Challenger-
Dodge makes a 353 hemi rated at 345bhp in the new Ram. This is the motor that was in the gray concept car and should be dropped into the 2003(4) challenger. Will this motor fit into a Stratus Coupe sized car? Time will tell.

Everything else.
The F-bodies will always be around, the vette will always have old guys driving them, and we will always have to deal with people thinking the mythical imports are fast.

I keep hearing Dodges new pony car refered to as the Challenger. Mopar to the best of my fairly extensive Mopar knowlege has no Callenger in the works. There is how ever going to be the Charger. Should be reborn for 04. The concept called for a 375 or 385 hp supercharged motor, rear-wheel drive, independant suspension, 6 speed standard. Now whether mopar has decided to stick with all this after the recent re-arrival of the 'Hemi' I don't know. What I think will happen is you will have the Hemi as a special option as you did in the 60's.

FWIW, when the new Dodge Viper hits showrooms later this year, it will break both real and psychological barriers, pumping out an amazing 500 horsepower, as well as 525 lbs.-ft. of torque. The Viper is the only domestic product to break the 500/500 barrier, although, the next generation Z06 may soon follow. If Cadillac gets authorization to put it's supercar prototype into production, the Cien will also join the list. It is currently powered by a 750hp V12.

On the foreign front, the new Audi RS6 is conservatively rated at 450hp, and the 2003 VW Phaeton will be here before you know it, with a 450hp W12 engine. Currently, the Japanese are sitting this high horsepower race out, though they've proven fast followers when a clear-and profitable-trend emerges.

Take care,
~Chris

The upcoming DEW platform mustangs will be powered by the 4.6 liter. And does Ford even make a 3.4? The T-Bird currently houses a 3.9 liter. However the T-Bird could present a challenge, because there is talk of a supercharged bird.

Oh yes Virginia, there is a 3.4L.

It's a 60 degree mod DOHC V8 that Ford started putting in the Taurus SHO in 1996. 10:1 comp, 235hp @ 6100rpm, 230 ft.lbs. @ 4100rpm. Not bad for a 207ci engine.

Take care,
~Chris

Either way, they don't make it anymore, so they can't put it in the upcoming stangs. So there

Aussie cars don't come up to the states for a couple of reasons. First, there is soem emissions differences, but more important, the cars down there are too tough. Yes that's right, they don't give enough in the DOT crash tests to pass. If they did, we would bring your Falcon and Ranchero up both sweet cars, and the Holden would be here already.

Ian, thanks I foget it's the Charger, (Duke's of hazard) not Challenger (vanishing point).

How's your DOT test work? So to pass it the car must crumble to a certain specification? I've always been intrigued by why it was so hard for Jap n Aussie cars to get into the US unless they're manufactured to US specs.

The sad thing is that the most powerful Aussie production car (a holden) is made in Australia and is sold in England, and that one is more powerful than the local version... and it costs less in England...

Wut do you mean too tough?

The thing that I found really hard to get used to when I lived in Australia was the fact that, at least in 1985, 99% of all passenger cars had 4 doors. Even the early 70's Holdens with a built V8, trick paint, cool rims, and 4 doors.

One of my roommates had a RS2000 Escort that wasn't anything to look at, but it got up and moved! It also had 4 doors.

I'll see if I can dig out some pics. It's a trip!

Take care,
~Chris

You mean passenger cars didn't have 4 doors over there?

Not many. At least not ones that anyone would hot-rod. Here's a couple pics I took of my pics from when I lived there, and a few of the cars...
