I've had people call my mustangs:
rustang
cumstain (that's a gross one)
dumb-estic (that's a ricer favorite)

Usually they'll stop their laughing when you ask them to race and they make a cop out story, and they're usually the ones who don't know much about cars in the first place.

On a related story, i had a ricer ask me in an impudent voice (when i was minding my own darn business while filling up at a gas station), "so how many miles per gallon you get....10! HAHAHA, fun for racing but not fun for driving". So i then corrected him and said, "actually i AVERAGE about 20 miles per gallon and have gotten up to 24, and yes it is a fun car to drive and insurance isn't any worse than your car". He didn't have much to say after that.
This is a good topic Fox Body,

Thats very true, most of them I have talked to didn't seem to know what they were talking about. After all, if they knew what they were doing, wouldn't they get a stang

SuperchargedRex - great info on the rotary! I still don't quite understand, but I'm getting a better idea.

As for the topic, I have heard most of the usual ones above. But, ever since the F&F movie, it seems like every import driver thinks I have "NOSS" on my Stang...yeah, low 13's @ 106 and I'm running a 250 shot of "NOSS." And then when I tell them it's just a stock 302 bottom end N/A they think the N/A is some sort of new supercharger.

Take it easy guys,
E

If you want to learn more, check out Rotary Engine Illustrated Hope you guys don't find me overbearing, I just like to educate about the rotary. It has its good and bad points, but I'm not one of those crazed lunatics that thinks anything other than their car is crap. Also, I will never refer to it as "nauss", it will always be Nitrous.

Cool

Aaah so now all the names come out. I just about forgot them all and some I've never heard. Man do I feel sorry for the real import racers who have to deal with ricers messing up their image. I mean, think about it, we know that every once in a while we'll see a riced out stang or chevy, but not nearly as often as an import. If ricers come over to the domestic crowd in the same magnitude as the import crowd, I'm not sure I could handle that...

LOL, that is so true 84LX89GT.

Oh and concerning you SuperchargedRex, how bout you hang around here a little more often. You seem like a cool guy and that car you have is really nice. It's refreshing to have a few real import racers around here.

I've heard us Muscle car enthusists as bieng reffered to as "Old Schoolers" before on several occasions.

I dont mind the name. I wonder what they would call my 64 1/2 though. Once they try to run it, I'm sure they wont be calling it slow.

Speaking of riced-out american stuff, what does everyone think of the new concept of the "G-machine" that all the magazines like carcraft, popular hotrodding and hotrod are running articles on. You know, the cars that are lowered and have 18" wheels and low profile tires? Some turn out good, but I've also seen some that make me want to puke. 18" Boyds on a 69 camaro is like seeing your grampa in a Chicago Bulls jersey w/ saggy pants and a 4' wallet chain wearing his hat w/ the bill side-ways.

Seeing anybody dressed like that makes me want to puke, but I get your point. I completely agree. I think rims that are larger than 17" look ridiculous on anything, with the possible exception of some trucks, and then only with large tires. The low profile "bicycle tire" look works for me about as well as 13" white-walls on spoked rims on older Impala's.

Different strokes...

Take care,
-Chris

well, i must say that while there are alot, i mean, ALOT of ricers on the road. there are a small percentage of guys that actually have fast imports. there's a guy in town with a really nice silver RX-7 who has had his stretched story or 2, but still has a really fast car. and i've only seen ONE Supra in my area. all the others in the majority are as follows (from most to least);

Civics - with mostly the usual odd colored headlights, big spoilers, fart pipes, and bright paint schemes. and we can't forget the 9575739 watt sound system and the 17" chrome rims (which look offensive on a Civic)

Preludes - mostly ok looking except for the occassional body kit, but most of these guys are somewhat respectful.

others like little Mazdas and Eclipses and Talons are pretty much what's in. and there are an increasing number of riced TRUCKS on the road which is extremely disturbing.

but all the good competition on the road is always the domestics. LS1 SS Comaros (2 of these around), a WS6 Firebird, and plenty of loud, pretty stangs which is really cool. the only drawback about the stang drivers is that most of them are jerks who don't respect their mustang brothers like i wish they would. i actually got a thumbs up passing a late-model CAMARO this summer. and therte's always the rare case of domestic rice, which usually is eye-trash. ok it's always eye-trash.

the only name i usually hear for us domestic drivers is the reference to being "rednecks", wich is kinda lame.

They call us "Domestics". Which kills me 'cause my car may be made in USA but it is by far Domestic
