I like the idea of all meeting and driving there with others would be cool.

Haha, I could go on forever. I'm might write a couple emails, see if I can get some support for this. I think I understand what Mercury's saying, though. Kinda like a regional car pool? Like, everybody from Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, etc. could group together in a central location or something? I kinda like that idea. We're almost going to have to get a registration setup or something, in case members need to get in touch with one another; a 'group leader' would also prove useful for coordinating the entire 'convoy' thing. Okay, as for the FFW events, I'd vote for (in decending preference) Norwalk, Bristol, Cordova, and Richmond. Florida is kind of out of the question, as is Georgia & Texas. Reason being that's a lot of distance from where MustangWorks is based (Detroit, Michigan), which is where I'm from, as are a few other MustangWorks staff members...well, at least we're mostly in the Midwest region, hehehe. I can really see this taking off this year, though. Can't wait to see everyone at an event!!!!!

I think this is a very good idea. I don't think driving to OKC would be TOOO bad, but i think it would be much better to have 3 meetings throughout the country, rather than in one place. Renting a track is not a bad idea at all; my mustang club rents a track around here a few times a year for $400 (so when we get 20 people its only 20 per person) and we get the track for 4 hours. I assume that most tracks are simillar, and we could find one near each of the meeting spots.

Hello again, everyone. I've been gone for a couple days at a basketball tournament so I haven't been able to view the boards. I'm glad to see there has been quite a few new faces on this thread throwing opinions out! Thanks!
The convoy idea is fantastic. That right there, I think, would help convince a few people to make the trip. I think renting a track is a very likely event now with dinotmite's input. $400 for 4 hours isn't bad at all if there are enough of us there. |

Well everyone, sorry it has taken me so long to respond to this. However, I was definitely on a hiatus over the holidays and kept quite busy with family oriented activities.
I think the idea of a Mustang Works gathering is a good one, and definitely something that I've thought about before. Unfortunately, experience has shown that although a lot of members will go on about what a great idea something like this is, in actuality only a small percentage of them will actually travel very far to participate. A good example of this would be the Cyber Brawl event we helped put on in 2000. There were like 400-500 car owners who said they were coming, but when the day finally came only like 100-120 showed, and a good portion of those were trucks from the truck sites. Furthermore, if we did have such an event, it would have to be a national Mustang Works gathering that is at least some what centrally located in the nation for the most part. This would mean some place like we had Cyber Brawl, which was in Bowling Green, Kentucky. So with that in mind, how many of you would realistically travel to such a location, stay in a hotel, bring your car, and be there? It would be a lot of time and work to do such an event, so I'd want to know that a lot of you would actually be coming to make it worth whiled...

I would love to do something like this. As long as my car is done before. The only other problem, like Dan said, is people committing, and then actually attending.
