I'm moving to california this summer... but irvine... so that's a bit of a drive.. I'll look you up if I ever go to SF for the weekend...
basicaly electric gauges are easiest to install.. you just need to run a lead to the sender (the part in the engine that sends the signal to the gauge) from teh gauge and then you usualy need to run a lead to a power source. I said Key ON power source so that the gauges arent on ALL the time, not that they drain alot of power or anything but it's just a nice clean install. You'd probably need to find a power source for the lights too. You'd need to tap into the dash lights so that the gauges light up when you put the headlights on... It all sounds like alot, it's really not.. though if you've never doen it, I can imagine it's tough when you dont know what you're looking at. If you wanna get into this job, you'll need a test light for sure.. they are cheap...you can get them at any auto parts store... it looks like an ice pick with a wire stickin out the bottom. This will help you identify where that's power. I can get into it further if you want. -as

205,000 miles on the stock short block, except for cam change. i did change the heads, intake, and so on for performance reasons. but if you take care of it, it will last a long time. the idea of rebuilding engines every 100,000 miles is outdated, if you take care of the car

I got about 500 miles on my engine. The car has got 68K on her. MY first 5.0 had 140K and she's still around town somewhere, but some idiot dipped her rear end into a tree.

I bought mine with 87K now I have 106K, that was pretty much in one year! From Oct. 01 to Oct. 02 it saw 18K+, then since this last October it's only seen about 300 miles! I'd like to keep it that way!

Thanks ChunkFunky You'll be proud to know that I DO know what a test light is. yay me.
Well I dont plan on rebuilding anything unless something breaks/dies/etc. .. hehe. Judging from all these responses I feel very confident that my car will last to 200k on the way I have kept it up. Even though its a daily driver, I dont usually drive very far. Drudis................................. niceeeeeeeeeeee |

Good luck

well the 82 was given to my dad back in 82 directly from ford, he invented a machine that would clean off access plastic from the blow mold machines. that car went through one winter and then was a weekend car. we got rid of the 302 and put in a 400hp 351 crate engine.
my 85 was owned by my dads friend, my dad ordered the car for him and he just never drove it. once or twice ever couple months. then i bought it off him and i only drive it on sunny days. its never seen rain or snow.
