Default Nice rice?

on the way home from work today i was at a stoplight on a 4 lane road. a Civic Si pulls up to the front of the line in the left lane to the light. i was the second car in the right lane back a couple of feet so i had room to get over behind him. the car had the complete set, rims (but not too big surprisingly), the 2 1/2 foot wing, blueish headlights and what looked to be a stock bodykit with the wider front bumper and fog lights, and the most surprising thing; not fart pipe, just a 2" or so exhuast tip or so. all in all a stock-looking Si from what i could tell. i was in the Mustang so i expected him to give me a rev and punch it at the light. to my surprise he didn't and simply pulled away, and i'm not the kind to go looking for trouble so i just let him be and went by him a few lights later when he turned left. again when we passed, no rev or even a look over.

all that said, these types of import guys are hard to find. not head jobs that go looking to race or looking for anything else other than to get where they want to go. just another car enthusiast who understood respect on the road, he respected me, so i respected him, nice and simple. a breath of fresh air compared to whet i usually find and encounter each day in my commute to work and other times while in the stang.

how many of you can say that it's hard to find young civic-driving kids(or any import for that matter) that respect other nice/fast cars on the road? just thought i'd ask.

There's not very many out there. But I don't consider them rice. To me rice is a whole attitude. There is no cool rice, or nice rice.

I've had my '89 since new. I have yet to have anyone, Ricer or Domestic, pull up beside my car and challenge me. They don't gun their engine to tell me how bad their car is, or make any other effort to get me to race.

I'm not interested in street racing to begin with, so I guess it must be the fact that when I'm driving around I just mind my own business, so other drivers don't even consider me a challenge.

Seems like an awful lot of folks on this board are challenged daily. Are you out looking for trouble? Or are other parts of the country different?

Maroon,
I'm originally from Annapolis, and I have family down by NAS Pax River, so I'm quite familiar with your location.

The answer to your question is Yes, other parts of the country are WAY different. I get revved on by ricers while I'm in the family car at least once a week. (wimpy stock 4 cyl Mitsubishi Lancer)

And If I'm in the stang, its at least 4 times a week...

my opinion is that i didn't see him as rice, BECAUSE of his attitude and demeanor. and judging from his car, he was all legit as far as the badging being legit as well. but aside from his "VTEC SI" liscence plate, he wasn't out looking for anything but getting where he was going. for that i label him as anything BUT rice which was the point of 95mustanggt. these are the kind of people i respect on the road.

and no i don't go "looking" for trouble. but come to my part of the country (namely my stomping grounds heh) and you'll find that ricers are a dime a dozen. pitiful. i wouldn't mind getting all you MW'ers up here so we can ALL pull into a ricer gathering at the same time, lol the look on their faces would be priceless.

my point for posting was merely that you just don't find many people like this kid today, and to me it's scary.
