Default How far have you gone?

Ok everyone, how many miles have you ever racked up on a car or truck. C'mon, what's the max you've ever put on one? If you've read my sig you know that the "dreaded" 4-Runner just turned over 256,000 last weekend. I want to know how many other high mileage car owners are out there and what you do to them to keep them on the road. I'm stock engine, (or modified), has to be original engine/trans/etc. Minor repairs are ok, as long as they're MINOR. I'm talking about timing chains, valve covers gaskets, etc. About the only major thing that has happened to this truck was the changing out of the timing chain. Do that every 80,000-100,000 miles on one of these 'yotas and they'll run forever. For my truck I just dump in a quart of oil every few weeks and keep on going.

Can anybody beat out the ole' 4-Runner? Let's find out.

Daniel.

I own a 67 that used to make annual trips from CA to D.C. You can imagine the mileage.

Yeah, but how many miles are on that car? That's the whole point of my post.

Daniel.

Don't actually have this anymore, so I don't guess it counts...But my mom's first car was a VW bug...it turned the odometer. Don't know about repairs or anything, but it was her moms, then hers...my dad's current rice burner (not rice, but a 4-bangin nissan truck) is in the mid 200's...I'll get exacts for ya later. Oh ya, it has a new radiator...he got rearend, shoved into the car in front of him.

Wow nothing to compare with that, my dad's t-bird has 250,000 or so km's on it. I think the biggest repair was new head gaskets. I'm sure he's had some cars way up there. I was watching this on a show once, if anyone is from Toronto it was on CityTV, it's a call in show that they help with car questions for uneducated people so they can gain some knowledge. Really a great show actually, and they had people call in telling there stories of most km's and some guy had over 800,000km's on an orignal engine. I believe it was a Toyota too. lol I think that took the record for the most. That's about 480,000 Miles. I must say if you can get 480,000 miles out of a car you've got yourself one great deal. lol

If you've ever seen as many 1984-86's as I have, they rusted all over and look awful. Mine's the same way.

I had about 115,000 on the Escort when it finally gave up the ghost. I really don't drive that far that much.

When I saw the title of this thread, I didn't think was going to be about miles on cars.

OK,
I bought my car with 6,000 miles in 92', and it now has 132, 000 miles.
I've done all the mild mods, but nothing major has gone wrong.
I replaced the water pump about a year ago. It was abused in its early years, but babied now. I've kept the oil changed and it still runs great.

A customer of mine has over 750,000 miles on his truck. Of course, it's a Kenworth.

Take care,

I got 157,000 miles on an '86 Renualt Encore 1.7L. The floor board had a hole in it and I finally had enough money to buy a new car - it still ran just fine though - original clutch too!!!
