Default LACR is closing..

Anyone have the latest on that granite construction company that's going to shut down LACR? We need to do something. Someone always tries to shut down drag strips. I put a post at LACR.net if you'd like to answer there as well. Thanks!

Last I heard it was going to be open all this year. Not sure about next year. I hope it stays open. It is a horrible track but hey it's a place to race.

Horrible track or not, I love LACR. It's the funnest place to race. Who cares about the altitude or cross winds. It's easy to get to, a pleasant drive thru the desert, dirt cheap to race, high quality "porta potties", and good prices on greasy food.

I'm sad.....

I've been to the Sal's Speed Shop Mustang races. Nothing special. Super Ford last year was horrible. 10 or 11 cars maybe. The fastest one in the 10's. Not too impressive. Oh well. I'll miss that place. The PSCA puts on some good shows at Fontana. Make sure you check them out. There are some wicked drag radial and outlaw mustangs there.

I went and read your post at lacr.net that really sucks I quess it is closing for sure. I have been to fontana a couple of times. I went to the fun ford 2 years ago. They didn't have it last year which i was bumbed about. Don't know if you know but fontana is building a brand new track. They tore down the old one to make room for more manufactures stuff and a resturnate for the NASCAR. The new track is supposed to be alot better. It is going to open in may and have a NHRA DIV 7 race. Alchol funny car and dragsters will be there so I migh go to that. So the track should handle fast cars. So hopefully more of the fun ford guys will show up in october. The street legal drags are ok. There is usally 300 plus cars there so it takes forever to get a run. Irwindale is great but it is on thursday night so I don't ever get to go.

Ya i'll miss LACR. My favorite track as far as I'm concerned. Been there since the 50's. I guess the granite company that owns the land needs to dig under the track to keep producing their goods. Hopefully Bernie will move it. I told them if they need help, I'd be happy to volunteer.
