GT-40 intake on stock motor, more power?
I'm going to have to replace my intake gaskets on my stock 5.0, and i figured what the hell, if i'm goin to take it off i might as well as buy a better intake. I have a BBK 65mm throttle body, will that and a GT-40 intake make any difference any performance on an otherwise stock engine? I do have BBK exhaust and Flowmasters but everything else is stock as far as induction. So will i be wasting my money?

I have an 88GT with GT40 intake (lower is Ported). I recommend the intake especially if you plan on heads or blower in the future.
OK that said, here is the negatives I have had. As soon as I installed the intake I discovered: a wicked surging idle had a backfiring problem (thought I sloved it by adding more fuel to the mix) Poor gas mileage a loss of torque stalling when hot in toll booths I recently got it dyno tuned (240 hp, 300 lbs of torque) and the surging idle is gone, the torque is back, & so is the back firing (my tuner thinks I may have a sensor problem). Now I do not have mass air and I am in the process of bringing it back to the tuner (to solve the back firing problem). I am also considering heads, cam and a mass air conversion. Yes I would recommend a GT40 intake. Chuck 88

If you are going to buy a new intake, dont get a GT-40. They are like 600$ new. You can get a TrickFlow TrackHeat of Edelbrock Performer for around 350$ and have money left over for pullys and such. Now dont get me wrong(I had a GT-40) its a good intake, just not 600$ new good. I bought mine used for 250$. Just a thought.

Years ago I did the Cobra intake. Looked at the GT40, but it is too big on a stock motor. I was _very_ pleased with 237rwhp on the dyno.
