Default Beast Unleashed #2

Well I got to take the beast out again today. It being my last day insurance I convinced my dad to let me put the insurance back on it for a day and take it to school. Well I'll tell ya this much I got the reacion I was looking for. lol I cruised around alittle, I was driving threw the parking lot and there was a teacher standing infront of this fairly long straight away, I just opened it up and squeeled the tires for about 10-15 feet. lol My friend had his G-Tec (anyone know how accurate they are?) well anyway I pulled .54 G's and that was going from about a 20mph role. And it gave me an estimate of 300hp or such. But that is considering my car weighted 3700 pounds with 4 people in it. I believe I've almost mastered standard now too. I could drive it but had some difficulty but I practiced from the get go today and was perfectly fine. Here are some pics I took with 2 other friends and there stangs.

Sounds fun man! Too bad we don't live closer to eachother so we could get some pics of our cars sitting next to eachother. I'll have some pics of my car painted and put back together on here tomorrow (Sat.)!

What is all done to your engine? There must be quite a bit done to it if you have 300 hp. That thing was making around 290 Bhp stock, which is around 235 net hp. So you have some pretty major work done to that thing (enough to gain 65 hp). I have carb/intake/cam and have around 285-290 net hp.

And G-Techs estimated hp is RWHP, not flywheel. G-tech's also consider wind drag into their hp estimates, unlike a dyno. So if it said you're pushing 300 RWHP, you have a TON of work done to your engine. That's like 375+ net hp at the flywheel.

BTW, what's that little toggle switch to the botttom-left of your light switch for?

Ohh... yeh? It's my buddies GTec he let me borrow it for acouple days, but I was doing it with him when I recorded 300hp, I put my car as 3700 pounds (I had 3 other ppl in the car with me) but I had no spare or jack or anything cause I don't even really have one yet. I honestly don't know what's done to this car, although it has a K&N (Yippie! ) and I believe it's a Holly 650 carb which needs to be rebuilt and setup. I honestly believe I could record more hp. It's a stock manifold which I'm going to be buying a Eldebrock as soon as I make some money to buy it. But I know something has been done to her cause she moves. And she has 3.73's or something steep in her cause she is around 3000rpm in 4th doing 60mph. Anyone got a better guess on what gears she has in it? Anyway, I will have my carb rebuilt, setup, intake, and then hoping maybe an ignition and then have her dyno'd, or I make take her to a guy and get him to check over the engine and tell me what's been done. Any ideas how I can tell if it's been bored? I really have no idea how to check what's been done to it. I wish I knew though.

And what are you talking about the switch to the bottom left my light switch?
Where did you see a picture of it?
I'm thinking my reverse lights, I have to turn on my reverse lights when I'm backing up seperate. But I thought all older Mustangs had that, or maybe just the standards? I'm not sure quite exactly which one ya're talking about.

Either way I've had to much coffee and I'm probably just rambling on here and I appologize. lol Ok I'm going to go find something to work off this coffee. lol

Take it easy,
§am.

THIS JUST IN!
Coffee kills brain cells!

Ok yes I seen the pic you were looking at and yes, that is my switch, when I'm backing up I gotta flick it on so my reverse lights come on. I found it pretty cool other then the fact I foget if they are on or off sometimes. lol I had to pull over the other day with my dad to make sure they weren't on. lol But it's pretty cool, I could be going down the hiway and flick them on and watch ppl probably freak out. lol =) People probably think it's a kill switch but I hope to add a kill switch one of these days when I can find some spare time. Hopefully tommorow in and out of studding for my last exam of highschool. YEH!!!

I've never heard of cars having a toggle switch for backup lights--even on manual transmissions. Does anyone know if that's original? Or did someone do a little custom wiring job to Sam's '69 Mach 1?

I installed a set up like that, kinda, in my truck. I have a pair og KC's mounted under my bumper, and they are wired into the backup light circuit, so that they go on when I'm backing up, but since I also often need them to light up a job site when packing up at the end of the day, I wired them to a dash mounted switch as well. So, they come on automatically when I put it in reverse, and whenever I turn on the switch.

Take care,
-Chris

Hmmm..... I thought they were all like that. One more mystery about my car I guess. I will have to look into that I guess.
