My sad Z06 Friend
My buddy and I went to get our cars dynoed this weekend. After waiting for the Nissian Sentra club to finish we got ours dynoed. He put his 2002 Z06 (mods: LT headers, Borla Stingers, ram air, and computer dyno tuned) on the dyno and dynos 363HP. While they where unhooking his car this girl brings up a 2003 Cobra Borla stingers and a Cold air intake and that is it. He started talking trash about the 03 cobra. Well it dynoded 400.1 HP. It was funny he got so pissed. HEHE. MAde my day.

The 03 cobra dyno high numbers but I would take a Z06 over any cobra other than a 00' cobra R.

The Z06's are the S H I T. They hit 12's in the 1/4 even here at 4000 ft. They weigh just over 3000 lbs and are very well made. And for a naturally aspirated engine they respond very well to mods. There are a ton of 03 cobras here and a few Z06's and the Z06's absolutely own the 03 cobras at the track. Hell the regular C5 vette's are bad mofo's as well. Nothing in West Texas is stock
With just a cam and ported heads there is a Z06 here that dynoed 430RWHP and more than that in torque. Yeah the 03 cobra can also dyno high numbers but its a heavy car and the Z06 is surprisingly light. Anyone that believes the 03 Cobra is a better car I ask you this. Have you ever been in a Z06, I have and they are Bad. This is comparing a true sports car to a pony car so it really isnt a fair comparison. But for me as much as I like Cobras I like Z06 Vettes better. JMO,

I know we were speaking in terms of equal price range, but lets get back to the real world. What does a new ZO6 go for? A cobra goes for about 30Gs invest the difference between the chevy and the mustang then see which one is the nicer car.
Corvettes are nice but every one I see has a 55 year old man at the wheel. |

I just checked out your friends website and that is a sweet car no doubt, however...
He's got over $8,000 in mods on that thing!!! What do those Z06s cost new, like $50,000?!?!? So, he's got approximately $58,000 into the car! Man, I must be in the wrong business, because this guy is making a killing at whatever he does. E

here is the story. He is a Computer IT. When he was in college his parents bought him a condo and a Cobra(www.killercobra.com). When he graduated he had a place to live for free and wanted to sell his cobra. He got to keep the money from the cobra and put it towards the Z06. So he has a good job no girlfriend and no house payments. So it is not that bad on him. Some of that stuff was from the previous owner. Also he got $2600 when a pipe main broke and flooded his corvettes exhaust and messed it up. That is why he put the borlas on and other mod pieces.

I can't believe more people would ratger have a corvette than a cobra on a mustang site. Oh well your loss. My wife has owend three corvettes in her in life and I think they all sucked. (yes she used to have alot of money, but not any more) Very rough rides not comfortable at all and not very much room. I don't know why anyone in their right mind would ever buy.
