Another Moral Question...
I was looking at some side exhaust advertisment we I really started to think about it.
If money was not an object, only personal preference, or even pretend we were going to change what was offered standard: Would you: 1. Want Straight Pipes (as on current Mustangs) or 2. Side Exhaust ??? |

As long as they don't come with a bunch of molding, ala roush, I would prefer side pipes. My first Mustang experience was my dads 65 (I've talked about it before) which had side pipes when I was little. He put a full exhaust out the back when we left NY and the car was never the same

Side exhaust definitely.

Side pipes are sweet. I almost ordered some when I got my exhaust but found out the straight pipes gave more hp(less bends). The mechanic at work had a 68 mustang for sell some years ago, for $5000, he didn't have side pipes but the exhaust exited before the rear tires. I wish I had bought that car... He had a mild 302 in it and it would have been a great cruising car.

Okay, I voted for side exhaust, but now I have a question. By straight pipes do you mean, straight pipes (as in no mufflers) or do you mean cat back?
Straight pipes on Mustang's sound dumb IMHO. Side pipes look really sweet, but in a lot of ways, they are impractical. They don't make power as well, don't sound as good IMO, and they scrape on every bump in the road. |

I voted for side pipes. Honestly, whenever I think about sidepipes, a mid-sixties Corvette comes to mind, but they do look killer on a Mustang.
Take care, -Chris

Side pipes like on the Cobra R are sick, but like on a roush, they're not my fav. I like the look of pipes coming out the back. Also, it's cool when you're waiting to race another stang, and you see the smoke shoot out the back, indicating he just got on it. It's like signalling the start of the race! Pipes out the back all the way!
