I use amsoil. With a filter change every 6 months or 12,500 miles the amsoil is good for 1 year or 25,000 miles. Amsoil introduced the auto industry to synthetics 29 years ago. I use amsoil in all 3 auto's, in my boat and in all my lawn eguipment. Trust whats proven to be the best not the other guys hype.

I would never go 6 mo. or 12,000 miles on any oil or any filter. The oil may hold up OK, but what about the dirt and blow-by crap? A clogged up filter just bypasses with no filtration at all. Dirt is an abrasive and is bad, bad, bad.

There's also the acid build up from combustion that gets past the the rings, and there is always some blow-by. These impurities need to be drained fairly often.

Change oil and filter often (3000 miles) as PKRWUD said. That's my $.02.

Rev is right.

That's why I don't bother with synthetic oil. The expense of doing the necessary changes with synthetic oil is too high, even with the real benefits the synthetic offers.

I change oil and filter (Mobil 10-30/Motorcraft filter) every 2,000 miles; no exceptions, ever. Knowing how quickly oil becomes contaminated, I like the idea of having everything fresh as often as possible. I would change it at 1,000 miles but that would be make me a fanatic. Hmmm.

112,000 miles and still running great.

We want the dirt to be gone ASAP. I think we all probably agree on that. Change the oil and filter every 3000.

I'm a general manager for Jiffy Lube, we're owned by Pennzoil. They put us all through a class taught by their own chemists and engineers. Here's what they taught us. Synthertic oil does not break down for 25,000 miles. Your oil filter only filters inpurities for about 3000. After that it just flows through. You can get away with going 4-5000 but that is pushing is because after that filter stops filtering that 25,000 gets cut down drastically. I change mine every 3000.
