..if insurance is paying for his totalled car, he will not be able to retain the salvage. In other words, he doesnt get to keep the car(salvage) AND get paid for the cost of the car. His insurance co would be required to sell it to a salvage yard, who you may be able to buy it from....at least that is the way it works here in FL, or I would be the proud owner of a Shelby Cobra already!!!
later!

no offence but if you get the driveline don't waste it by putting it in a thunderbird. I say put it on a fox and have a nice reliable mid-low 11 second mustang. I think it was lidio that put an 03 cobra motor in a notch and ran 11.3's

So I assume he's getting money from his insurance company? Is he paying/deducting money from the insurance company to keep the car? When I locked up my motor, my car was considered totaled, it was worth $2700, I kept the car and took $2100. If he can't work out some deal with the insurance company to keep the car but get less money for it then the insurance company gets the whole car.

that might be it...not sure...because he isn't getting 10k for it...he is only getting 6 or 7 for it and yes he is keeping it. BTW are there any aftermarket valve covers? He may part it out...i'm taking all the good stuff.

If you want to retain a totalled vehicle from the insurance company, you just have them deduct the salvage value from the settlement. Its usually very reasonable, in fact if they're paying off a claimant vehicle they almost give them away.

He would be a fool not to part it out on ebay. The cobra engine goes for $6,000.00 on there.
