I would go with a 351C They have tons of torque! If I had to do it all over again, I would have put a cleveland instead of a windsor in my '82GT

Yes, I did get your email. I haven't responded yet because I've been so slammed getting the new site online. Will contact you soon though.

Thanks Dan. I just thought that since this was such a rare car, and that I was going to document this anyway, the site readers(not to mention you and your staff) might like to see this as it happens. Thanks for the concideration though, which ever way you decide.

Well if you want to kept it as a 302, you can find tons of add-ons, inside engine parts, and dress ups for it. Finding parts for a 351C is hard believe I have one in my old 69 Mustang. Parts are more expensive too.

tweak that 4cyl... I've seen them run in the 12's.. I think one of the mags out *car craft, hotrod* had one that was running 12.7's with the 4 banger ;-)

I totally agree with Dark Night!!! It's an SVO, keep it that way. Think of the looks an the ls1 guys faces when you stomp them with a 4 banger. And ricers can't complain that the reason you won by so much is because you have twice the cubes...."Hey a$$, count the plugs! That's right 4!!" Light Em Up!!

I say keep the 4 as well. Try something new for a change. If you are just going to swap the motor out, you can get an old regular 4 banger and drop the bigger motor in. If you want the looks of the SVO, you can buy the parts to make it look like one. It would be cheaper to do it that way as well.

Nice ideas guys, my only problem with them is that eventually I want to restore it back to original condition. Comp Prep's aren't that easy to find. Although, if I was to keep everything I took off, then I could restore it.
Hmm.......it would be nice to have a 12 second 4 banger. Maybe I will do that, after all I'm going to build it the way you, the readers and users of this site, want it to. Keep the ideas coming. |

I've got an idea of what to build, I'm going to stick with the 4 banger turbo. Now here's the new problem....where do I race it?
I've thought of SCCA SOLO II bracket(if that's what it's called). Also, I could enter it into some sort of bracket drag race series. Talk me guy and dolls, what do you think? Keep in mind this is going to be a daily driver(on paper anyway). Later! |

Check out the April '01 issue of MM&FF. On p. 258 there is an article called 'The Shiny Avenger' about Tiny Avenger Motorsports' SVO. They got 291rwhp and 287ft-lbs at 18psi of boost with a stock 2.3 shortblock. These maniacs believe they can get 400 horse out of the little half-engine.

Yeah, they stole my idea!! I've been thinking about doing this car for about 6 months now. Sucks that these guys jumped inside my head and didn't even give me a kiss on the neck for thanks! Anyway, the wife is complaining about having a headache, so I guess I'll get off for now. Damn woman. lol

Well, I've already got a project lined up. It dropped into my lap from my dad.
He's giving me a 63 Ford 427 medium riser dual quad and a Borg Warner T-10 to run with it. Gotta find an older stang to throw it into when I get a house to keep it at. As far as a project I'd actually like to do? Boss 302 motor, converted to EFI, with a Kenne Bell Blowzilla in an SN95. That would be so unbelievably bad *** . All that high rpm power, a block that can take it, and the low end grunt from the blower to boost the equation. I'd guess low 12's easy. |

I live about 5 miles from Mooresville dragway. Lucky me. I go up there every so often, like every weekend so far this year. Wanna meet up there and swap stories, and maybe race a few times? Just for fun that is. lol
