Default Sniper on the loose!

How long do you think it will be before the sniper is caught or if he is caught?
Whoever this person is, they are pretty damn good.

Default Not too good

As a long time precision shooter, this guy is not really a good shot. He hit a 13 yr old boy in the upper abdomen. He hit someone else in the shoulder.

A really good sniper would hit everyone in the center of the chest within a few tenths of an inch of where he aimed. This guy is a very sick and rank amateur.

If they don't find a link, it may be a longer than you think. Crimes with know known motive are hard to solve. Everyone around here seems to agree that this would be even worse around here, everyone would be totin rifles and handguns... I think they are on the right track with checking recently released military personal, though.

Default Video nut guy?

There is a theory that he may be a video game player. Some of these games (some government training videos) are used for training snipers but some others are recreational videos.

Still, a good shot will hit better than this guy has hit if he has any real ability. That is if he is shooting from the ranges that they say he is shooting from.

Rev, I'm with you. Unless the people are moving quickly, he should be able to make a statement with his shots. A friend of mine is 'deployed' and a sharp shooter. I say we just put some guys on the roof and light this moFo up. Naw, that is to dignified for this guy.

Lets kill him with a bb gun. We should tell the terrorsits they're safe. He'll start picking them off. Am I the only one who noticed he hit a kid at school the day after people said, "Send your kids to school it safe."??

I've been following it to the best I can.... I find it very interesting... and he may not be the best shooter (like some mention) he is a very smart criminal... He has left pretty much no tracks...(that we know really), I don't believe that is his van. He is to smart for something like that. He is obviously showing he wants to be caught but does not want to go down without a fight... I bet he will strike again tommorow and I bet it's going to be in the afternoon, from what I've read and what I see it's going to be something different. Something more difficult, like not someone just standing around at a gas station or by there car. It'll be something maybe more public like a restaurant or anything. Or it may be in a new place. He likes moving around and leaving no patterns. I would love to be an investigator. I want to go into Computer Crime with RCMP when I am done school but I have to work on it for many years so who knows what will come out of it.

Think the sniper is a disgruntled American citizen, unhappy with the govt. or a member of the Al Qaida network on a terror assignment??? I am unsure.... and would like to see it come to an end soon; though, I doubt that it will. It's a shame, really...

Sign me up, who's number one?

The only thing I've heard that seems to fit a pattern is that every (I think) shooting has been near a Micheal's. This could mean:
A. He's gay
B. His name is Michael
C. He got sh*t canned from there and now he's pissed.
D. Nothing.

Along the line of him being good, I also doubt it.

His shot placement is bad like Rev said.

If I heard he was using a 30 calibre rifle instead of a 5.56 I would be more inclined to think he had sniper training.

Anyone that can zero a rifle can hit a man size target at 150 yards, with about any type of rifle.

150 yds? Heck I could hit someone from that distance without a scope! Wouldn't people hear the shot from that distance? Seems like you could triangulate a location pretty easy.

Yeh that is one thing they've mentioned that they didn't hear where the gun shot was from.... and apparently they leave the seen fairly quickly... They also mentioned they seen a white van so they must hear the shot if he is close to them... can they not tell apx. how far he was by the gun shot wound? They also said he may have a partner helping him. Who knows either way I hope they put a end to him but I do find it a very interesting case...

Its hard to tell where a shot comes from, especially in the city. Coming by you is a different story.

Most veterans could make a head shot at 150 yards with open sights. A body shot again, is nominal experience.

Cant tell distance from a gun shot wound. Example: A low velocity round may produce the same wound from close distance, as a high velocity round at a further distance.

umm.. I'm not big on the different calibers. I saw that he was using a .223 caliber(military issue) weapon. Is that the same as a 5.56? The only reason I know that its a military issue shell is because I spoke with my dad about this earlier this evening and he said a .223 was a military issue. He likes guns about like I like mustangs.

The 2 rifles that jump to mind right away that are common and use .223 rounds are the AR-15 and the Ruger Mini-14. I've used both and they are both damn fine rifles and capable of being very accurate especially with a scope. If this guy is getting shots like he is he is a very poor marksman. The fact that he hasn'tbeen caught yet though makes him a smart criminal and that in turn makes him an extremly dangerous criminal.
I hope they get this prick and nail him to the courthouse wall so the public can take pot shots at him.

I don't think this wants to be caught. I think he is having fun with this. I also don't think the press should have told everyone that the suspect van had a taillight out!! Do they really think he wouldn't fix it when he heard it on the TV?
This guy is smart and until they admit that, they won't catch him until he slips up and they get lucky.
I also don't think he is on the run as soon as he shoots because that's what the police are expecting and that's why they don't catch him when they close off the highways.
The police are going to have to start thinking like him if they want any chance at all.
They can't find Osama, what makes them think they can find this guy?

As far as telling where the shots are coming from...that can be tough.

A little trick that real snipers use is to place their shot so that the bullte passes near a tree or an obstacle of sorts. This creates a phenomenon that makes it seem that the shot came from that location rather than perhaps much further away.

He is enjoying putting the cops threw all this trouble... he thinks he is invisable and keeps pushing his luck... he keeps doing it in a more populated area or somewhere where he is more likely to be caught, he doesn't want to give himself up like that though.
And the media always ruins everything but they are not really letting much out. Obviously this guy isn't going to be driving this van when he is doing his shootings, and honestly how many of those vans are there. And it's so stuck in people's mind so as soon as they see a shooting, they look for a white van right away. I think they will eventually find this guy but it's going to be a long while before they do.

I heard them say the last woman killed was from 400 yards out. That's a pretty good shot. And they can tell the distance the shot was fired from by the amount the bullets are mushroomed.

I also heard they got 3 descriptions of the guy from 2 different shooting locations and they all said he has dark or olive colored skin. Could it be a rougue terrorist?

Or maybe one of the people he killed is actually linked to him somehow, and he killed them as part of this sick rampage he's on. The only thing about that though is that he killed a kid. You wouldn't think someone pissed at their wife or whoever would take it out on someone else's kid.

I hope they get this guy soon. I'd sure hate to live in that area right now.
