dilemma- please help.
Well, I bought a '89 Mustang GT the other day. Got it for $400. Drove it to the base, and had fun spinning tires the whole way. I was amazed how fast it was stock. I thought my '66 was fast, hell no! This thing threw me aginst the seat like nothing else. Better then any other car so far.
Anywho, here's my dilemma. Should I use the rebuild 302 for the '79 mustang with the rebuild 4-speed T4 tranny? OR take out the 5.0 and the 5-speed T5 for the '79? I'm just selling the car, and don't want to convert the '79 to fuel injection. Plus I'm trying to sell it as a rebuild motor tranny combo. What should I do. The 5.0 and 5-speed will be faster. Also the '79 is getting the brakes, and wheels/tires from the '89. And the 8.8" rear. Well?

So you've got the 89 for $400??? Is there a missing zero in there? I'm not really getting the dilema you're having.
You have a weaker engine/transmisson combination in a 1979 that you're selling, and you want to cannibalize the new car to sell the old one? You're not making much sense. You sell the old car as is. Then you drive the new car as is. Mod it later. |

I have to agree with keeping the '89 if it's not too far gone...

I guess I forgot to incude that the '89 was rolled. It was also a convertiable. I wish I could drive it more, but it's no longer street legal. I could spend $5000 on it, but it's not worth it. But yes, I got it for $400. No missing Zero. Bought it cash, then drove it home.
It has new $500 tires on it, so that right there is worth the price of the car.
