Hometown on TV
Kinda. Yesterday while watching Fear Factor, it all made sense. Let me explain. On a Saturday afternoon in early October, my buddy and I went down to Ventura Raceway to get together with the rest of our team for that night's Sprint car races. As we approached the fairgrounds, where the racetrack is, we noticed a large, orange Monster.com blimp flying around over an area known as Surfers Point, that was being followed by a helicopter. The day before there had been an article in the local paper about how blimps could no longer fly within a certain distance of sporting events, due to the air traffic regulations imposed after September 11, and that any that did would be escorted out of the area by the Search and Rescue helicopters. Since there was a surfing event going that day, we presumed that what we were seeing was a blimp being removed from the area, just like the story in the paper said they would be. Well, last night I happened to be watching Fear Factor, when I saw a familiar blimp. It was the orange Monster.com blimp. I instantly recognized the surroundings below, as seen from the helicopter, as the town in which I live; Ventura, California. I'm not sure how it was that they were able to violate the air space over the surfing contest the way they did, but I presume that money had something to do with it. Anyway, it was fun to see Ventura from the air like that, and I just wanted to share.
Take care, -Chris

The Trophy Banquet is a week from Saturday, and our first race is March 9th. Our car is another story. When we got the block back from the machine shop, we discovered it was cracked. We have a top notch welder, and we're trying welding the crack, overboring the block and sleeving that cylinder. That block would cost over $2k to replace, especially with all of the "massaging" it's had, so we're hoping this works. The color blind boss has decided to repaint the frame a metallic purple/blue color, and the body panels and fuel cell will be a "burnt orange". I haven't seen the body panels yet, but I'm not envisioning this as very attractive. I liked our blue/white colors, but he wanted something "different". We'll see.
Take care, -Chris

Don't sweat the color change thingy..those two colors look really kick-***** together on a car.
We priced the racecars to someone last night.. 1rolling chassis 1complete late model (engine build 10grand alone) 1 complete stocker 1frame(tomasik) priced it at 10 grand..... Whoever gets it is getting 15000 just in engines!!! wtf? We have our awards banquet in Nov. Whaddya gonna do about the block? not too many choices, huh?

Thats cool man. If anyone has ever seen the movie "In Country" with Bruce Willis all the small town fottage from that movie was filmed in my town. It was real cool, For three months the entire town revolved around this movie. We were all told to do and say certain things cause we never knew when they would be filming extra footage and we might be in the movie. The restaurant in the movie with the big chicken on it was built special for this movie and torn down after it was finished filming.

they did that with Born on the 4th of July, in Dallas when they filmed that. They redid the whole block to look like the 60's.
Yes, they paid to make all the homes look like they were from the 60's. Pretty cool. But then when Oliver Stone does a movie, he does a movie. Like JFK. They had to redo some of the streets to make it like it was 1963.

Hey Chris, remember me? Anyway, do you remember when they were filming SWORDFISH downtown? That was pretty exciting getting to meet John Travolta. Did you see the movie? Nicolbys looked so much different, along with the book store made into the coffee shop. And that yellow stang that was out front, that got blown to poop, i drove that car to its location, they paid me 100 bucks to pick it up and drop it off. Anyway, glad to be back on this board again, have made alot of changes to the stang. I'll talk to you later man.

Brian-
V6 Stang? Work at the base? Remind me. I still haven't seen Swordfish yet, but they said downtown Ventura is on the screen for 15+ minutes. That's better than Erin Brokovich (sp?). We only made about 10 minutes of screen time in that flick. i remember when Swordfish built that facade in front of the bank building just so they could blow it up. Wild. You realize that every resturant in town now has John Travoltas autograph displayed proudly. Go figure. Take care, -Chris

The best part was the hummv crashing into it that building! Thats funny you say that about his autograph being displayed so proudly. If i recall, the store fronts tried to ban warner brothers from filming the movie there. And that ******* antique shop owner who tried to sue them for loss of buisness. Anyway, in the movie, the explosion was in slow mo, very cool shot and the club scene where he meets the hacker was filmed inside of nicolbys. A must see, i'd give it a 9! I'll be at Kelly's Downtown around 3 or 4pm then cruising over to winchesters if you want to meet up bud, let me know.

Kelly's?
If I get free, I'll try and meet you. Where's Kelly's? Is that the coffee house next to Century 8?
