The journey begins....
well, i have started my search for a NOTCHBACK. I'm looking at an 88 or 89 with preferably a 347 strocker motor, *like that will happen*lol! At least i'll keep my hopes up. Borrowed a friends notch the other day (bright yellow notch with a 347....runs in the low 12's) and realized that i have been wasting time trying to build a 14 second v6. Anyway, before i bore you all, i just wanted to share with you guys/gals that i will soon be joining the ranks of v8 bliss! I wont sleep until i find one!....the journey begins

Searchin' for a Stang of your own
Extremestang:
Many a current Mustang owner was 'converted' after a ride in a modified Mustang V-8. Finding an exact duplicate of your friend's 'Stang (a 347 stroker) will probably be futile but - good luck on finding a Mustang that you can modify and call your own. |

Good luck with the search, although it may take some time just to find an 88-89 302 that's in good shape.
Not to rain on your parade but you may want to skip the 'requirement' of the 347. I just don't think you'll find one. Plus, if someone went through all the trouble to build a 347, and then is selling it, I would be wary as to the condition of the engine. I recommend that you keep an eye out for a clean, well cared for Mustang and then do your own 347 buildup. As I posted in another thread: it took me 9 months to find my baby. Again, good luck E

Thanks for the support guys! I was just being sarcastic when i said i wanted one with a 347, the likely hood of that is slim to none.
I've looked at two already, neither worth a damn. Guess it will be a little longer then i expected. Chris, let me know what you see out there, i appreciate it buddy.

I looked for this car for over a year. I was already a member of MW when I bought it. I went through ad after ad calling people and looking at cars. Many were trash. Many had owners that didn't know jack and didn't do a good job maintaining. Many were modified (I wanted a stocker).
I took a trip to the metroplex with the sole purpose of looking at and buying a Mustang. All the specialty dealers were WAY overpriced and the ads I called on were all no-go's. I worked my way through all the hopefuls and no cigars. Then I called back a number that didn't answer on the first call and spoke with the guy I bought my car from. It was bone stock, red with black interior, and even though it was an AOD, it sounded nice. I met him in Plano, and when I saw the car, I knew I had found it. The interior was perfect, the paint looked good and was nicely waxed, and the engine was well kept, maintained, and clean with all receipts. Had a slight vibration, but it was merely the tires needing balancing. My point being, take your time and wait for the right one. Keep looking past the junkyard heaps and the Cletus the slack-jawed-yokel owned cars, and you'll find the one you need. --nathan

Brian-
Dont look for one w/ a 347. Theres a lot of cheap nice Gt's and LX's out there. ive been looking myself for quite a while. Do you know for sure the yellow car runs low 12's? Its much closer to a low 13's after I saw it run, and I know what the 69 camaro runs. Skyler

Sky, you just want a 347 for yourself, hehe...
As far as the yellow car, yes, its a 12 second car, just the driver thats slow. That was his first staged event. (remember them lining up, he jumped the gun, then had to re-line) Dont ask, just was. He picked up some long tubes last weekend with a few other things i wont mention for now. Hows the kid doing? I heard what happened, just want to know if things are okay for him now. Yes, i'm sure i'll be looking for awhile, but damit man, i want an lx soon!
