Unhappy just returned from Carlsbad...

Well, I knew it was coming...
1st run of the day, I had the N2O bottle full and warm, the car was in perfect tune...
and my clutch said "I cant take this sort of abuse!"
I dont even know how I made the full run (13.90 @105.25 btw) I could feel it shuddering and slipping like crazy all the way down but what the hell, I gotta at least give it a proper death...
I even went so far as to try a second time but shut it down halfway through (14.63@85! lol)

Well, car is still in San Diego I am in Yuma stuck driving the wifes Sebring...my king cobra will be here this week so she will be back on the road by the end of next weekend...

Guess the instructions for the 150 hp NOS kit really meant it when they said a heavy duty clutch is required!!!

Dang.. I hope my clutch holds up... Ahh.. I'm kinda worried about it already.

Looks like we should line em up on March 24th. We should be pretty even hopefully.

Unhappy

I just replaced my clutch with a king cobra in December. It was nice at first, it grabbed really well and i launched a lot better. But here it is now February and the Dam thing is already slipping. It is only supposed to have like 10% more holding power than the stack HD. When it goes i'm putting a CF dual friction disc in with the cobra p. plate. I floor it while in a role in 1st and instead of smoking the meats, it smokes the clutch. And no, there was no oil, water, etc.... on the parts when installed, and Yes everything is alligned right.. The darn thing just can't handle any power. Light Em Up!!!

Why not get the 10.5 inch motorsport clutch? I realy like mine. Its worked great for 2 years now. But I think my throw out bearing is going

I am running the CF dual friction PRESSURE PLATE and the King CObra DISK and it works great! You may want to buy a new fork assembly while your there it is cheap insurance, it's also a perfect time to add the blow proof bellhousing as well.

just read a thread over at stangnet, a guy asked which clutch everyone would recommend. The king cobra was the popular favorite by far.

Sky, cant wait to get everyone down there in march, there were only a few stangs there...seems like all the big boys were out last sat! (11.99 and below, trailored in, you know the type!)
On a funny note, there was a guy there with a stock 99 firebird, he had put H U G E slicks on (these things stuck out the fenderwell at least 6-7 inches) and he couldn't even break them free at the water box to heat them up! After his run, he realized he had toasted his clutch too.

Having the same problem with my king cobra
"HD" clutch! Only that I put it in 3 weeks
ago, and it's already slipping! What a piece
of crap! Did everything by the book, too.
Slips in second at around 4 grand, rpms are
goin' up, mphs aren't! Anyone have suggestions on what to try next, preferably
something that's not gonna chatter to badly!

86GT, flows, mac-powerchamber, mac-eq-shorties, K+N, 3.73s, HD T5,
245s on tenholes, kingcobraclutch,
Kirban FPR, lots of patience
