Default computer gurus...I need help

I'm running windows XP. The other day I accidently removed a 3.5 inch floppy from the drive before it was finished reading data and now every now and then the drive turns on as if there was a disk in the drive but there's not.
What's wrong and how can I fix it?

That's strange.... I have never had that happen to me before.

Does it just read when your doing something that does not save? (ex: surfing the internet)

If you just pull the disk out while it's reading, it should just error out and say that it can't read the data. It should not have any long term effects on the computer.

Slap the dam thing around awhile.......O sorry....

Try putting a diskette in and out a few times.

Hopefully that may work.

Yeah, it just sometimes reads the disk drive when I'm opening files or switching websites....it's weird.
