Unhappy "Mr. Rogers" Died last nite!

Well, I'm up WAYYYYYY past my bedtime, but my PC was giving me a fit and I"m a bit stressed out...
...I just heard on the Radio that MR. Rogers died last night....
Im sure MOST of you wont know who he was.....but when I was about 7 years old (30 + years ago), he was my idol...w/ that ugly old grey sweater and all, and them shoes he used to count with!!!!....
Damn....how sad .....the land of Make Believe was so cool...I liked Daniel the Tiger the best! He was cool, he lived in a clock....Mr. McFeely got on my LAST nerve....He was wayyyy old beyond his years...And the trolly was dorky....I hated that trolly....lol Prolly was a chevy.
anyways...I just heard this news...and I thought some of you "oldtimers" could appreciate this...
You'll never see someone do a kids show like THAT again in this age in time!!!

I don't know about oletimers, but I too remember him. The castle with the stupid handpupets. The trolley with the toot toot, down the tracks...hehe, I remeber it all. I heard that he used to be in the marines as a special ops sniper.

It's too bad he's gone.

Yeah I remember him, but it was never "cool" to watch so I stayed away (being influenced by peer pressure when I was young). Heard about it on the news this morning. He has always been there, it's kinda weird that he's gone

Default A sad day

Being from Pittsburgh, I've grown up with Fred Rogers for the last 22 years. I remember watching his show all the time. Our local news has had a ton of coverage (because he was from here). Even though some people won't admit to it, everyone watched 'Mr Rogers Neighborhood' at some point in their life. He will be missed.

It's definatly not such a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

I grew up watching Mr. Rogers. Heck, when I was little I used to toss my shoes when I was putting them on like he used to. Does that make me a dork?

I just wonder now, Who'll be our neighbor?

... If I recall correctly (from a post a while ago?), we're the same age. (I'd ask, but people say it's rude to ask a woman's age )... 22? Just wondering.

Yeap! 22 years 8 months and 17 days, I think

Bradley, somehow I can't see Mr. Rogers as a sniper, I could be wrong though..

Good ole Fred. My wife has an ugly brown sweater she likes to wear around the house and I always call her Mrs. Rogers when she does.
I hate that thing.
Fred was actually a music major in college and started into television right after college. I heard him say years ago that he was an ordained minister. Remember Mr. McFeely the speedy delivery man? Fred Rogers full name is Fred McFeely Rogers.
How about Queen Sara? His wife's name is guess what?
Anyway, enough trivia. Ole Fred will be missed around here. I can't begin to remember how many of those shows I sat through with the kids when they were younger all the while secretly hoping the TV would implode so I could make it go away.
Now there's Barney. Death to Barney!

Yep, I remember that darn trolley!! I didn't really watch the show too much because I thought the guy was so boring! But in his defense, I think his softspokenness and gentle demeanor had a much-needed calming influence on kids. Lord knows, lots of kids need that!

What gets me is that everybody and his brother used to bash Mr. Rogers while he was alive...I mean people in the media. He was the butt of all jokes. (Undeservedly, IMHO.)

Now that he's passed away, the media are getting all sappy about it! Personally, I think they're being two-faced, but that's just me.

I think he did our kids a great service, and for that I thank him.

May he R.I.P. in his new neighborhood.

Unhappy Fred was a cool guy...

Yeah, I'm kinda feeling sad too, cause I remember the influence (although it wasn't much-- it existed) he and his show had on me. Well, at first I thought he and his show were kinda gay, but after watching it (when I was younger) compared to most of the other shows, there was a settling calmness about him and his show. I am greatful for the calm he and the simplistic land of makebelieve brought to my life at the early ages. I think we need more people on TV like him and less of the MTV and Teen Idol (okay, let me put his in a nice way...) feces on TV nowadays that are suppose to be for teens and they're getting younger too. . It's good, though that Rogers spent his life doing what he enjoyed, even though he was ridiculed by some for it.

Anyway, Sesame street was cool too. I still like it, but it's not exactly the same like it was when I was growing up. Oh yeah, and the Muppet Show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Man this is taking me way back . Thanks for starting this thread, TNT.

DEATH to Telletubbies and DEATH to Barney the idiot!!! They're all morbidly gay....

Thumbs up

the muppets were/are cool! i have a buddy named chris, he could pass for beaker's twin brother. he hates when i call him beakerand i do. they have now started selling the all the different episodes of the muppet show on vhs. i buy them for my three year old son, or at least thats what i tell people. the day jim henson (the creator of the muppet show) died was a very sad day for me.
